And now the confusion had passed, and his expression is his normal dead-pan one again. It wasn't like he hadn't expected to see her there. After all, she worked in Neo-Venezia where he was going. It wasn't huge like a planet was. It was just a city. It wasn't such a huge stretch of the imagination to see her in his mind's eye, smiling at him when he steps onto the space port.

He does glance down at the hand on his sleeve though, remembering back to all those months ago when she'd first become a Prima.

"Of course."

"I was just thinking about you earlier." It didn't occur to her to let go, not yet at least. She laughed, "Isn't that funny? It's like something inside of me knew you would be here today and it couldn't wait to meet you again."

And while it did occur to him to wonder why she was still holding on to his sleeve, she isn't causing any problems, so he decides to let her keep holding on until she was ready to let go.

"The human mind is a strange thing, so it isn't impossible."

It is strange to have someone just agree with her on this. Of course, she remembered that Shirogane always took everything seriously, didn't he?

"How long will you be staying this time?"

"For as long as I need to."

Shirogane had a branch company to run, after all. He catches sight of someone walking past behind Akari and a hand goes to her shoulder to pull her closer to him (so that she won't get jostled).

"What do you mean?"

Akari hadn't expected him to pull her in and the movement caused her to stumble half a step. Her other hand, the one not holding onto his sleeve, came up to rest on his arm in order to steady herself. She looked up at him a little confused as to why he did that (and there was a faint blush staining her cheeks as well).

"Um." She started intelligently. "I mean." Second attempt was also no good. "You have a business back on Man-home, right?" As much as she'd love for him to stay longer, Akari knew Shirogane wasn't the kind of person who would act so irresponsibly.

Shirogane holds onto her as if it's the most natural thing for him to do until the old man has finished hobbling past them, doffing his hat at the two of them as he does. Shirogane replies with a nod before he releases Akari, noticing her reaction (although he doesn't really understand why she was embarrassed), "I'm now in charge of the new branch office in Neo-Venezia."

And just like that, all her embarrassment evaporates.

"So you'll be living in Neo-Venezia from now on?"

"Yes."

Wow, she sure looks happy about it...Shirogane isn't too sure why.

The confirmation made her feel light and warm and if she looked happy before she was practically ecstatic now.

"That's wonderful!"

Well....a new branch office was a good thing. It was a sign that their company was expanding.

"...It is."

[distantblue]

Well, there was that too.

Without even thinking she reached out and held his hands. "Where will your office be? Where are you going to stay?"

There's a beat before Shirogane answers, because her behaviour catches him by surprise.

But when he does, his hands are gripping hers back, "It's going to be in San Polo and I'll be staying in the same building."

"That's a nice area." Of course, by now he should know that, to Akari at least, there wasn't a single area in Neo-Venezia that she didn't think was a nice area. "I'll often take customers there to see the old buildings and the churches."

Shirogane knew that. Akari only repeated it five hundred times every time she took him somewhere when he was here last time.

Unconsciously though, those were the same words he had thought of when Ryuuko had asked him about the places he had seen in Neo-Venezia.

"I know."

That's right. She's taken him there before hasn't she?

"Do you have anyone to take you back to the city proper?"

"All of my things are at the new apartment already, so I was thinking of walking there."

Because it had never seemed far when they had walked the way together, and the walk was along the biggest canal in Neo Venezia where she was sure to be.

Neo-Venezia wasn't so big that he couldn't walk there, really. She offered to take him anyway.

"My next appointment isn't for another three hours. I can take you if you want." Unless he was really intent on walking. She couldn't blame him. As much as she loved the waterways and what she did, she liked walking occasionally.

"We can catch up in the mean time."

Shirogane is silent for a moment because...he did want her company even if it was just for the walk there.

And the fact that he didn't mind it and wanted it was strange and new. It was only then that he found that in those five months he'd forgotten how to be comfortable around her.

He settles with an impassive, "It's this way, right?"

It didn't even occur to her that he might say no. She was just so very glad to see him again after so many months.

"Yes." Akari lets go of one of his hands, but keeps holding onto one to drag him behind her. "We won't have to walk all the way back, though. My gondola is tied near the entrance."

They do get a few smiling looks as they walk hand-in-hand to her gondola, but the concept of embarrassment is kind of foreign to Shirogane so he doesn't think much about it. He only notes that those looks were directed at the both of them and didn't seem to be threatening or negative.

He's silent for a moment before he speaks again, "How...is work?"

The looks slid off Akari much like water did on a duck's back. She did occasionally wave when she saw someone she knew though.

"Hm? Oh!" She laughed a little, "There weren't as many customers after Alicia-san left, but business has been steadily picking up for the past few months. I was actually here to see off one of my customers."

"You're good at being an Undine. It may take a while, but I think with your ability you can get business to go back to what it was before Alicia left eventually."

This is his true, unbiased opinion. Shirogane isn't one to let it slide when someone is not working to the best of their ability or if they're Kou, but even he is willing to admit when someone is doing a good job (it isn't enough for him that you're doing your best. As far as he's concerned, 'doing your best' is synonymous with 'doing what Shirogane thinks is your best'.)

It was impossible not to be happy at that because she knew (she knew that Shirogane never said anything he didn't mean.

It also made her a little flustered, though.

"I hope so!" Some might find Alicia's legacy hard to live up to, but all that mattered to Akari was running the Aria Company as well as she could.

He huffs, "I know so."
