He huffs, "I know so."

She laughed. "For some reason, when Shirogane-san says that, it really fills me with confidence. Like some kind of magic spell."

Since he's met Akari, there have been a lot of firsts. Some that even he hadn't counted simply because he didn't notice them. One of these was his smile. Even on the best of days, it was difficult to get him smiling (although that wasn't for lack of trying from Kengo, with help from Akira who once grabbed Shirogane's face and stretched it as far as it would go).

But he smiles now, when he hears what she says. He doesn't reply, simply shifting his grip on her hand so their fingers are now linked together, his eyes soft as he finds himself thinking that moving to Aqua was the right choice to make.

Not just his words, but his hand in hers filled her with a warm feeling despite how cool the weather was.

She was content to just walk in silence, occasionally waving at people she knew. It wasn't a long distance to where she'd left her gondola and they arrived there soon enough.

Still the same white gondola. He knows the drill by now, and stands to one side.

She steps in before him and offers him a hand even though she suspects he might not need it.

"Please give me your hand."

He's a stickler for procedure, you know. He takes her hand, and when he steps onto the gondola, he can't help but to like this feeling. Being here, being with her.

She did. Even though she hadn't seem him in months she still remembers.

Akari couldn't help but smile as she pushed off and headed back into Neo-Venezia.

"...autumn really does suit you."

He has to take a moment to think about that. But he comes up with no definitive explanation.

"....What do you mean?"

[distantblue]

How does she explain it...?

"Even though summer can get so hot that you want to slow down sometimes and do nothing, it's always bustling with activities. Compared to that, autumn is much calmer. It's not chilly like winter, but just cool and even though there aren't any flowers it is still filled with colours if you looked for them."

"It's a really beautiful season."

Congratulations, Akari. You've managed to baffle him.

"What does that have to do with me, though?"

[distantblue]

She let out a quiet breath of laughter, "Because Shirogane-san is like autumn. You're always seem so calm and reserved, but despite that you're warm in your own way."

If Shirogane was the kind of person who got embarrassed easily, he would have been embarrassed to hear himself being described in such a way. He's honestly not sure what he should feel about that though, but he doesn't look away from her, "What are you saying, honestly..."

She laughs sheepishly. "I'm not really sure."

She poles along though, her gaze soft. "It's a little hard to put into words..."

He sighs, but doesn't press her any further. He isn't annoyed at all, which is kind of strange for him.

So he decides to watch as the streets and the crowds drift gently by instead, his own gaze calm and content. He really had missed this place.

She let the conversation taper off into a brief silence before she began to sing softly.

Akari couldn't hold a candle to Athena-san, but she had practice really hard to master this skill and she knew she could manage it more than just well enough.

And even to someone like Shirogane who only knew music in a work-capacity (which is to say music people played at parties), it sounded good. He closes his eyes, letting her soft singing wash over him.

"I really...have missed this place."

She finished the current phrase, drawing out the last note before letting it fade.

"...I'm a little happy to hear that because it means...this place made an impression on you."

And maybe it's the fact that he's seeing her again after so long, or the fact that it's true, but his voice is quiet as he watches the gentle ripples that follow as the gondola drifts through the water, "...It did."

"I really missed being able to talk to you."

E-mails and the occasional video chat, just couldn't compare to actually being able to talk to him in person.

"The e-mails and the video chat aren't the same thing as talking in person."

He wondered if she was thinking that too.

She laughs.

"That's what I was just thinking."

It doesn't take long after that for them to arrive at Shirogane's new home. The building itself is made of sandy brick, and the doors and shutters are painted a neutral gray-blue with brass knobs. The street itself is fairly quiet, with only a few passersby walking around.

She stopped the gondola outside.

"Here we are."

He starts fishing for his keys as he alights from the gondola.
