It was really uncomfortable, actually. But Eagle endures it because he can feel Ryuuki shaking. Unsure, his hand travels up over the arm to rest against the top of Ryuuki's head. Eagle returns the embrace, albeit a bit awkwardly because he couldn't really move.

He can tell that Ryuuki is suffering and he knows that he needs to comfort him. He had to comfort him. Nuzzling his nose against the side of Ryuuki's neck, Eagle makes quiet, comforting noises as he runs his fingers over Ryuuki's ears.

When he felt a hand on his head he began to slowly relax.

The nuzzling was nice too and slowly his grip became less tight, less desperate, less crushing.

But he wasn't ready to let go just yet.

It seemed to be working, and for that Eagle is very glad. Taking a breath and not allowing himself to think about how embarrassing this was, he cups Ryuuki's face in his hands and angles it down gently so that he can rub his forehead against Ryuuki's chin.

"It's alright, Ryuuki. I'm here, so it's alright."

"Eagle." He he didn't whimper or whine, but his voice was noticeably trembling. "It was so dark. A-and I couldn't find anyone. There was no one to be found."

Eagle's heart clenched when he heard that. He couldn't even imagine the kind of trauma that Ryuuki went through as a child to be this afraid even as an adult. But he tried to imagine it anyway, and the more he tried, the more he became determined to make it better any way he could.

He pulls away slightly to rub his nose against Ryuuki's, his breath fanning against his lips, "You found me, didn't you?"

Always gentle and careful, he runs a thumb over Ryuuki's cheek, eyes searching for his even though it's too dark to see, "You found me. You're not alone. I promise. I'm here, and everything is going to be okay."

In response he nuzzle Eagle back, nosing at his cheek, his neck occasionally licking him.

He wasn't alone. Eagle was here. He was here.

Eagle felt the flush spreading from his face all the way to the back of his neck at the feeling of something warm and wet against his neck. DOGS, WHAT.

It isn't....unpleasant, if he really had to think about it (and since he was still trapped in Ryuuki's arms there was nothing to do but to think about it) so he decides to just roll with it. It was dark, right? No one could see. And what was important wasn't what he wanted. It was making sure that Ryuuki didn't get scared. Eagle swallows, then hestitant and trying to keep his voice from squeaking at every lick, he continues to run his hands over Ryuuki's ears, "It's...it's okay. I won't leave, so don't be afraid. I promise. I'll take care of you."

It takes a while, but eventually Ryuuki slowly settles down until he was simply just holding Eagle. He sniffled.

"...sorry."

No harm done, Ryuuki. Eagle can just never be a wife now.

"I-It's okay. Have you calmed down?"

What do you mean? Isn't he already Ryuuki's wife?

"...yes."

...........No.

Eagle smiles then, because all the embarrassment and being attacked in the middle of the night had been worth it if just for this.

"I'm glad."

He slowly lets go, then immediately begins to fuss over Eagle.

"Did I hurt you?"

"Of course not, you just li-"

AOSDJLKJLGKJ.

"Um. I mean. Never mind! I'm fine!"

"Are you sure? I mean, I was holding you pretty hard just now!"

"Well...yes...b-but I'm okay. Really."

At this point, Eagle decides it may be best to try and change the subject, "So. Um. Are you going back now? Or are you s-staying?"

Ryuuki froze for a second before looking at Eagle like a sad puppy. "...can I stay?"

That surprises him. Although it really shouldn't, given that this is a look he sees on Ryuuki's face a lot. But he recovers, and smiles, "Yes. You can."

Ryuuki beams at that answer then leans down to press a quick kiss to Eagle's mouth.

"Thank you!"

It's dark though, so Eagle isn't really sure what just happened. But even with that he's pretty sure that was a kiss.


THAT WAS A KISS?!

"Y-You! You can't just..."

"Hm? I can't just what, Eagle?"

No really. He doesn't know.

Eagle is silent for a very long time, because HOW DO YOU EVEN SAY THIS WITHOUT IT SOUNDING COMPLETELY EMBARRASSING?

Taking a deep, steadying breath, Eagle launches into a lecture.

"K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-..."

Okay. He attempts to launch into a lecture.

And Ryuuki waits patiently for his answer, completely unaware that Eagle was preparing to start a lecture.

"You...I...You...You can't...I mean....it's not...it was nice...but still....I...You...I...!"

He has no idea what he's saying anymore.

It's okay because Ryuuki will keep standing here, smiling brightly and patiently until you figure it out. See, he can be patient!

If Eagle didn't know better, he'd think that he was being played with a smile like that. How could he be so calm all the time?!

"Don't....don't k-k-kiss someone suddenly like that. It's supposed to be special, so...so save it for someone important to you."

.......Eagle looks down now, having accidentally hurt his own feelings with that.
