She pulls back, a frown on her face, "Yes."

[directking]

"In that case..."

He reaches up to place a hand over hers. and turns his face to smile at her.

"Bath, dinner or me?" He asked with all the appropriate pauses but less of her inflections. In fact, he looked more amused than anything.

In reply, Shiho bumps her forehead against his, "Don't proposition mothers-to-be, Ryuuko."

[directking]

A look of surprise flitted across Ryuuko's face. That...that he hadn't expected.

"Oh." Was all he could say for a moment, but Ryuuko had always been a man who could take life's surprises in stride. "How far along are you?"

His reaction was disappointing, but expected, really.

That doesn't stop her from pouting and expressing how disappointed she is about it with her tone of voice, "Three months."

[directking]

"I see. I will have to get some books on the subject then." Because he knew all but nothing about pregnancies and things like that.

"Did Doctor Sakaki say anything?" He meant of course, about whether the baby and the mother were both healthy. He actually was concerned about that, that much should be pretty clear.

Still disappointed.

"He said I was doing fine, and--You! Is that the only thing you have to say to me?!"

[directking]

He blinked, before smiling.

"The only important thing is that you are all right."

Just so you know, smiling while saying something like that is against the rules, Ryuuko.

She refuses to be placated. (Although the tiny quirk of a smile at the edge of her mouth says otherwise.)

That doesn't stop Shiho from putting her hands on either side of his face though and squishing his cheeks together as she plops herself onto his lap.

[directking]

During moments like this, Ryuuko thinks being a psychokinetic instead of a cyrokinetic would be nice. Especially if it meant he could push his paperwork further back so that she wouldn't accidentally brush against them or otherwise cause them to become disorganized. (Ryuuko's desk may look like a mess but it is organized in its own way.)

It could be fixed though and there was no use obsessing over something he couldn't change.

Shiho could push his paperwork off the desk. And she does contemplate it as she looks at him.

Instead, she arranges his arms so they're around her waist and snuggles up to him. She can always rearrange his drawers later.

[directking]

He had a feeling he had been caught which means he's likely going to need to re-rearrange his drawers tomorrow.

Oh, well.

He huffs a quiet laugh, holding her more firmly around the waist.

"Does Minamoto know yet?"

"Of course."

Would the supervisor of a group of Level 7s not know about one's pregnancy? Actually, Shiho is pretty sure everyone knows by now. Ryuuko is probably due for some extremely vocal and angry phone calls from Kiritsubo at some point.

[directking]

Ah. How silly of him to have asked.

And he expects that he will also be hearing from her father. Ryuuko figures he should expect a visit from Minamoto at some point.

"And your team-mates?"

"Yes, yes, everyone knows but you."

And it probably wouldn't bother this guy either, damn him. Just for that, she gives his cheek a not-particularly-gentle poke.

[directking]

He doesn't resist when she pokes him. Ryuuko has found that it was easier to just ride out his wife's strange moods when they happen.

"How did they react?"

"Happier than you. Really. It's almost like they're the ones who got me pregnant and not you with the way you're reacting."

Is she disappointed?

Yes. So very, very disappointed.

[directking]

He chuckled, before cupping her face with one hand.

"I really am happy, you know."

[i_have_a_taser]

Don't think just because you are sort of attractive and smile at her that she's going to be appeased, Ryuuko.

"Then give me some indication that you are, geez."

[directking]

In response he leaned in and kissed her on the mouth.

...Where did he learn to do something like that? That wasn't like him at all. It was definitely someone's bad influence.






She returns the kiss anyway, snuggling a little bit closer.

[directking]

It worked for the Director when she did it to Shirogane.

He kissed her the way she had told him she preferred to be kissed. After years of accumulating data, he was sure he had it right.

Though occasionally he'd throw in something else and see how that worked out. Everything in this world could be improved upon, after all. Today though, was not a time to be experimenting.

Don't use those two as a study. They were a special case. Besides, Shiho was nothing like that stone-faced guy.

It was clinical, the way he kissed her. Of course, she did like it. The soft sigh and the way she melts against him is a good indication of that. But at the same time, she couldn't help but to find it just a bit weird. Cute. But weird.

[directking]

Passion was not a thing that came to him naturally, but he knew he could love because he truly did love her. So he tried to make this as normal for her as he could though he find he often misses the mark.

The fact that she still stuck around despite that just made him want to try harder.

He brings a hand up to cup her cheek as the other holds her snugly around the waist.

It's okay, Ryuuko. Shiho finds your abnormality cute, and the effort you put into making her happy is also cute. If he were normal, she wouldn't be half as interested.

She hums happily, one hand brushing against his jaw as she pulls back, a smile on her face.

"I guess I can forgive you for a kiss like that."
