She made sure to wait until he was seated before poling away from the hotel.

"Is there anywhere in particular you wanted to go today?"

A slight breeze skims through his hair, and he brushes it out of his eyes as the gondola begins moving.

"Somewhere I haven't been before."

[distantblue]

Akari takes a moment to think about it.

"I can take you to see one of the out lying islands."

[thelongestword]

He takes a moment to think about her suggestion before he nods, "Sure."

[distantblue]

"Then let's go." Along the way she points out some of the sights that she hasn't shown him before.

It wouldn't be long though, until they were leaving Neo-Venezia behind.

"Even though people think of spring when they think of flowers there are a lot of them that bloom at this time of year too."

He turns away from watching Neo-Venezia get smaller to look towards where they're heading, "That's because flowers keep blooming till autumn."

[distantblue]

"There are even those that bloom afterwards." For a moment she stops paddling and allows the gondola to drift as she she takes in a deep breath of summer air.

"They are fewer of them that do, but they're also really beautiful."

When she takes a deep breath, he unconsciously does so as well, breathing in the sweet, warm scent of flowers and sunshine.

"...Is there even a flower that you don't find beautiful?"

[distantblue]

She actually pauses to think about it before laughing a little. "I guess not."

If this was anything but an Aria AU there would be something scary there.

There is another soft breath that could be a laugh before Shirogane notices a rocky structure coming up on their side.

On closer inspection, it seemed to be something like an old building. There was a worn dock built of water-weathered rocks that led up to an equally old-looking platform. There were no windows, but there were arches with heavy-looking, droopy bunches of flowers in powdery blue, pale violet and pink. Grass grew from the cracks between the rough rocks of the structure, and an occasional daisy peeped up from behind piles of debris.

And there was the soft but unmistakable sound of music. A waltz.

"What...is that?"

Indeed.

[distantblue]

Akari placed her paddle into the water, slowing the drifting gondola. She tilted her head a little and listened carefully.

In order to become a good undine, Akari had studied a bit of music so she could recognize a waltz. She didn't recognize the song though, nor the building.

"...I'm not sure." After a short pause she turned to Shirogane with a bright smile, "Do you want to find out?"

He's not too sure he wants to find out, actually. Shirogane isn't really an adventurous person.

He gives the shore a reluctant look, and catches sight of an old man in a black suit. On catching sight of them, he waves.

"Where did he come from?"

[distantblue]

"Who are you talking about?"

Akari turned back to the shore and...she was certain he hadn't been there before. Still, She hesitantly brings her hand up to wave back. It was only polite.

"Good morning!"

I have decided that ghost-butler has an English accent.

"Good morning! Out for a gondola trip this early?"

Shirogane isn't too sure how to respond, so he just leaves it up to Akari and says nothing.

...works for me.

[distantblue]

"Yes!" It's fine: Akari can talk enough for the both of them. "We're having some lovely weather right now."

You must now read his lines with an English accent though. Even if it's in your head.

[thelongestword]

"Aren't we though? Oh, that reminds me. Where are my manners, really. I have tea prepared. You wouldn't be adverse to joining me, perhaps?"

Shirogane is still giving the old man a suspicious look though. Because this is all weird, okay.

But you know I'm, bad with English accents....

[distantblue]

"I don't mind." Tea sounds wonderful right now. She looks back at Shirogane first though. "Would you like to stop for some tea, Shirogane-san?"

Practice makes perfect.

[thelongestword]

"I don't mind."

He's watching the old man though. Don't try anything funny, dude. He will end you.

She smiled at Shirogane before turning the smile back to the old man. "We would love to join you for tea, mister."

"Then by all means."

The old man makes a gesture towards a small pier to one side, complete with a rope for tying gondolas.

Shirogane finds this really, really suspicious.

[distantblue]

It's not good to randomly suspect people, Shirogane...

She poles over to the pier and carefully ties it so it wouldn't drift off.

With that done she turns to Shirogane with a bright smile. "Shall we?"

He comes from Man-Home. Suspecting other people is (probably) normal there.

His eyes soften though, when she smiles at him, and he takes her hand.

She came from Man-Home too...

Akari helped him out of the gondola before heading towards the building.

Okay, maybe it's just him then.

The building they're heading towards is an old mansion, at the front of which is a big garden full of roses and large trees. The old man has tea set up on a wrought iron table in the courtyard, and he is smiling at them as they come closer.

[distantblue]

Akari was struck at once by how beautiful the garden was. Not just the garden itself, but the way the light shone through the trees, causing everything to be dappled in light.

It felt like they had stumbled across a precious treasure.

"Good morning, sir." She smiled at the old man. "I never introduced myself, did I? My name is Mizunashi Akari, I'm an undine with the Aria Company."
