Akari was struck at once by how beautiful the garden was. Not just the garden itself, but the way the light shone through the trees, causing everything to be dappled in light.

It felt like they had stumbled across a precious treasure.

"Good morning, sir." She smiled at the old man. "I never introduced myself, did I? My name is Mizunashi Akari, I'm an undine with the Aria Company."

"Ah. The Aria Company, is it? One of Akino's students, perhaps?"

He smiles at her gently before turning to look at Shirogane. Who is still looking uncomfortable and more than a bit suspicious. As if he doesn't even notice though, the old man smiles and nods, "And this is?"

Shirogane crosses his arms, "Shirogane."

"You know Grandmother?" That wasn't the name she expected to hear. Even though everyone knew it was founded by Grandmother, the current undine running it was Alicia. (Though soon it wouldn't be any more...)

She turned to smile at Shirogane briefly before turning the smile back towards the old man, "He's my first customer and my friend."

"Mister Shirogane, is it? A pleasure."

Shirogane's blank look says that it may be a pleasure, but only for this old dude. Absolutely unfazed, the old man smiles gently at Akari, "Everyone knows Akino, young miss. Now then, we mustn't let the tea grow cold."

He pulls out a chair for Akari, gesturing for her to sit.

"...that's true." Sometimes, she's just really proud of the fact that she's the successor to such amazing people.

She takes a seat with a smile and a heartfelt 'thank you' to the old man.

Shirogane also takes a seat as the old man starts pouring the tea. He can still hear the strains of a song coming from somewhere and he turns to look in that direction suspiciously.

Seeing Shirogane turn, the old man also looks up, "Do you know the song, Mister Shirogane?"

Without turning back to look, Shirogane crosses his arms, "It's a waltz. I'm not familiar with the names of songs."

[distantblue]

Akari turned towards that direction as well.

"...it sounds familiar, but I can't really remember from where."

The old man simply smiles serenely, "That is alright. It is an old song, so I would have been more surprised if youngsters like yourselves were familiar with it."

Shirogane is satisfied with that, and leans back in the chair with his cup of tea.

"It's beautiful though."

"It is a song made for dancing to. The two of you...wouldn't happen to know how to dance?"

The old man tilts his head as he refills Shirogane's cup. Shirogane crosses his legs, expression imperious, "Of course I know how to."

[distantblue]

Akari on the other hand shakes her head with a laugh.

"I've never danced before." and, unlike singing, it wasn't something she was taught as a part of her apprenticeship.

"Well, then isn't it the perfect time to learn, young lady. Maybe Mister Shirogane can teach you."

The old man smiles gently at Shirogane, who simply hmphs and doesn't reply. He doesn't like this old man.

Akari looks at Shirogane too, her eyes shining.

"Could you?" because she thinks it would be pretty cool.

Shirogane had the sneaking suspicion he was being ganged up on. And that shining look in her eyes wasn't helping any. He does struggle for a moment before he puts down the cup. Not by slamming it down (which would have destroyed the delicate china) but there's a very emphatic, very annoyed 'clink' before he stands up and wordlessly holds out his hand to Akari.

Akari had been worried, for a moment, that he was going to leave. She hadn't meant to gang up on him, she had just been really excited...

But then he was holding out a hand to her and she was almost too surprised to take it. Almost.

After a short pause, she smiled up at him and put her hand in his.

The music becomes louder, notes delicate and beautiful as he tugs her up from her seat. He's....really not sure if this is a good idea, but he takes her other hand in his as well.

"Put your hand on my shoulder."

[distantblue]

She assumes he meant the hand not holding his. She places her other hand gingerly on his shoulder.

"Like this?"

"Yes."

He puts the hand that isn't holding hers lightly against her waist, then mentally counts before pulling her gently into the steps.

"Right foot first, then the left."

[distantblue]

She blushes at the hand on her waist. She had held his hand before. It was part of her job.

This was...different. Though she found that she liked it.

Akari didn't have much time to think about it though when they started moving. She was too busy watching her feet to make sure she didn't step on him.

Right foot...then left...?

He stops, one hand reaching down to tilt her head back up.

"Looking down at your feet will cause you to miss the beat."

[distantblue]

"But what if I step on you?"

[thelongestword]

"It isn't the end of the world. Just follow my lead."

He takes a confident step back as he says this, pulling her along.

[distantblue]

"...all right." She's still a little nervous, but somehow...

She laughs a little as she follows his movements. "If it's Shirogane-san leading, somehow, I feel like there won't be a problem."

"....I don't think it has anything to do with me leading or not."

But he does tug her close for a moment according to the beat of the song, the movement smooth and elegant as they turn.

"That's not true." She almost stumbles when he pulls her in, but sha manages to catch herself and not stumble right into him. As she was finding her rhythm again she smiled up at him. "Shirogane-san is always so calm and confiedent in everything he does...it makes me more confident as well."
