She blushes at the hand on her waist. She had held his hand before. It was part of her job.

This was...different. Though she found that she liked it.

Akari didn't have much time to think about it though when they started moving. She was too busy watching her feet to make sure she didn't step on him.

Right foot...then left...?

He stops, one hand reaching down to tilt her head back up.

"Looking down at your feet will cause you to miss the beat."

[distantblue]

"But what if I step on you?"

"It isn't the end of the world. Just follow my lead."

He takes a confident step back as he says this, pulling her along.

[distantblue]

"...all right." She's still a little nervous, but somehow...

She laughs a little as she follows his movements. "If it's Shirogane-san leading, somehow, I feel like there won't be a problem."

"....I don't think it has anything to do with me leading or not."

But he does tug her close for a moment according to the beat of the song, the movement smooth and elegant as they turn.

[distantblue]

"That's not true." She almost stumbles when he pulls her in, but sha manages to catch herself and not stumble right into him. As she was finding her rhythm again she smiled up at him. "Shirogane-san is always so calm and confiedent in everything he does...it makes me more confident as well."

"There is no need for you to base your confidence on someone else. You are not uncoordinated when you are in your boat. Take confidence in that."

He knew this better than anyone, because he'd seen her poling up to the house where he was staying, every moment sure and calm. That was one of the reasons why he'd gone on all these trips with her, after all. He was a person that appreciated a job well done when he saw it.

....And then the song comes to a close, and with one final turn, he releases her and steps back.

She blinked up at him, surprised by his words for a moment before she giggles a little.

"I will."

When the music ended though, she finds that she's the one who's reluctant to let go. It felt somehow like the moment she did the moment would be truly over. So, even though she doesn't stop him, she leaves her hand on his shoulder until he's moved away from it before letting it fall to her side. Her hand lingers in his until he's pulled away.

Lingerin...to not forcefully hold onto yet be unwilling to leave in the same breath. What a particular and lonely word.

She laughs a little at the thought, as the wind picks up a little, before bringing the hand that was holding his up until a moment ago to brush her hair back.

"Thank you."

"It is only a dance. There is nothing to thank me for."

But it was nice to hear, nonetheless. Not that he would admit that. With a turn of his head, he looks towards where the old man was supposed to be standing...to see no one there.

....At least the tea and food was still there. He wasn't sure they should eat it.

...peculiar. Peculiar, not particular. orz

"It was more than that." She clasped her hands behind her back, "It's something that will become a beautiful memory. I can thank you for that, can't I?"

She turned when he did and...huh. She blinked.

"Where did he go?"

He's prepared to say that she can't. But he'll leave that for another day when old men didn't disappear in the middle of tea-and-dancing time.

"I...wasn't paying attention."

[distantblue]

"Ah..."

She cupped her hands around her mouth. "Mister?"

There was no answer. Shirogane had kind of been hoping there would be one though.

"He isn't here."

[distantblue]

"I wonder where he went?"

Akari didn't seem very bothered that the old man was gone, only curious as to where he went...and whether they'd meet again.

Then it occured to her...

"I hadn't even asked him for his name."

"You...."

How could any person be that...unaffected...by everything? Honestly, he was kind of irritated. And maybe just a little bit worried.

But just a bit. He wouldn't admit to it anyway.

[distantblue]

"...yes?"

After meeting Caith Sith, it was hard to be surprised by anything. Besides, the old man hadn't done them any harm. He even gave them tea!

[thelongestword]

"....Never mind. Since he's gone and the dance is finished, we should just go back."

And with that, he starts heading in the direction of her gondola, turning back only once to ask her if she was coming or not.

She lingered a but longer than Shirogane, turning back towards the table they had tea at. She craned her head back to answer him that she'll only be a minute, before turning back around and bowing at the table.

"Thank you for the tea."

Then she turned to catch up with Shirogane.
