[Aika already had a ring from Al, of course. She showed it to Akari and Alice with a contented smile and a blush. Alice hadn't found the perfect ring yet, though it sounds like she's been looking in some pretty odd places.

Even though they said they were going to practice it feels more like they're just sitting around talking.

That's all right, though. Akari loved the time they spent together.]

I haven't really had the time to look for one yet.

Maybe we could go together?

[Exiting the store, Shou holds up the ring in its small, soft bag.

He had ended up choosing a ring set with a tiny spray of flowers made of pink and blue enamel with green enamel leaves. Matching...her eyes and hair...that was a good idea, right?

Oh, god...what if she thought that was too stalkery.

Shoving the ring into his pocket and closing his eyes, he takes a deep breath before heading to look for her, not noticing the pink girl walking past behind him.]

[The marketplace was bustling with activity. There were so many people here for the festival that the three of them held hands to make sure they don't get separated in the crowd.

They debated over what was or wasn't a perfect ring. Or rather, Aika debated and Alice vetoed most of her ideas as Akari watched on. Occasionally giving suggestions of her own or just smiling at her friends. Akari and Alice tried on many rings (though thankfully none of them got stuck this time) but in the end, neither of them could settle on one, before Akari's break was over.]

I have to go back. My next customer is supposed to be there soon. [She can't just leave Aria-shachou to greet them all by himself, after all.]

[Shou arrived at the Aria Company, breathing heavily as he wiped the sweat from his forehead.

...He would never admit that he had started sprinting half way there despite not being very suited towards physical exertion.

...And he would also refuse to admit if questioned, that he wanted to see her smile when he showed her the ring. It's not like he was excited about it or anything.

He definitely isn't excited when he sees that there's no one there. But the cat.

He stares.

Aria-shachou stares back.]

[distantblue]

[Aria-shachou is really good at staring. It was one of his talents. So he barely even blinks as he stares at Shou. In fact, this is now a staring contest: first one to blink loses!

Then there's the sound of something moving through water and Akari's voice.]

Aria-shachou, I'm ba--hohe? Shou-kun? What are you doing here?"

[Shou jumps at the sound of her voice, dropping his purchase on the floor and simultaneously losing the staring contest.]

Ah!

Sorry, did I surprise you?

[Akari bent down to pick it up.

Meanwhile, Aria-shachou is looking incredibly proud of himself.]

W-Wait, Akari! Don't pick that up!

[Her fingers brush the package before jerking back when he said that. She blinked.]

...why?

[She honestly couldn't think of one reason for why he was acting like this...]

[He mumbles something, face a bright red before he reaches down and snatches the bag off the floor.]

[distantblue]

Shou-kun? Are you all right? Your face is all red...

Th-That's...That's not because of you or anything.

[Out of reflex, he hides the bag behind him, mind screaming.

WHY THE HELL AM I HIDING IT UGH I'M SUPPOSED TO BE GIVING IT TO HER AND NOW I'VE LOST THE CHANCE AHHHHH

He's fidgeting. But it's not because of her or anything. Obviously. Geez.]

[She stares a bit longer before it finally clicks.]

It's a present, right? [It was so obvious. How could she have not seen it?] May I ask who the lucky recipient is? Or is it a secret?

[GREAT NOW SHE DOESN'T KNOW THAT IT'S FOR HERRRRRRRRR AHHHHH]

It's okay if you don't tell me. Whoever it is, she's certainly very lucky.

Still, when she saw the embarrassed look on his face she couldn't help but smile. He really, was a very nice kid.]

[She carefully peals off the wrapping paper and opens the box inside...]

Oh! [She pulls the ring out to admire it in the light.] It's lovely. Thank you, Shou-kun.

[When Shou hears that, it feels like a big weight has been taken off his chest, and he smiles to himself.

But being tsundere, he has to deny that he even has these feelings because gosh they are embarrassing.]

Well. Don't just admire it. Try it on.

[Really, he was quite cute. She slips the ring on and, just for good measures, tries to slide it up and down after it's on.]

...it fits perfectly.
