Aqua had put her hands on the river bank early and pushed herself back up. She wasn't actually wet since most of the water just roll off her clothes and her hair. It was an otter thing.

She sat, swinging her legs gently in the water with a smile on her face. She didn't even notice the staring until she looked up at him.

"What is it?"

"Oh. Um. Nothing."

He looks away, but the way the droplets of water had rolled down her skin settle in his mind, and is that a blush creeping up his neck? Yes. Yes it is.

"Are you sure?" She brought a hand up to run through her hair. Maybe she had something in her hair?

"Yes. I'm sure. It's nothing. I'm sorry."

A part of his mind is telling him to tell her that she was cute. It sounded suspiciously like Kangaroo.

"Um. You're really...really..."

Okay, sorry, suspiciously Kangaroo-like voice, he can't do it.

It couldn't be a part of his mind because Aqua heard it too.

When she looked back though, she only saw the bushes behind them rustle a little before going still.

...weird. She thought she heard Kangaroo just now.

She turned back to Eagle. "I'm really what?"

It was Aqua's turn to blush and look back at the water.

"Um...th-thank you."

She was distracted enough that she didn't hear a voice (that sounded suspiciously like Rabbit's) say 'way to go, Eagle'

He turns around and looks up to see a giraffe poking its head out from the trees. And now that he looks closer...were those Kangaroo's ears........?

"WHAT ARE YOU ALL DOING?!"

Aqua's head snapped up at that.

Wait.

What!?

If anything her blush just got worse.

They were watching them!?

Just ignore Aqua as she just...buries her face in her hands.

"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ALL! THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE PRIVATE! PRIVATE!"

And with that, he grabs Aqua's hand and starts marching her away while every single animal in the vicinity flattened their ears against the sides of their heads. Not because they were apologetic. But because they had been caught.

She was surprised when Eagle grabbed her hand, but she didn't resist.

Later (much, much later) she was going to give them the talking to of a lifetime. Right now, though, she just wanted to find a hole to bury herself in.

They get quite a ways away before Eagle stops to look behind them, "It seems like they aren't following."

Aqua's ears perked up for a moment as she listened for the sound of anyone following them. When she confirmed that Eagle was right, she relaxed minutely, though she still wasn't looking at him.

"It looks like it."

"I...um..."

He notices that he's still holding her hand and abruptly lets go, "...Sorry. About that. And...back there. I didn't know they would be watching, so...."

[blue_wayfinder]

She shook her head.

"It's not your fault."

[eagleofthe_west]

"No. I should have noticed. It's just that I wasn't really...really thinking about them, so..."

He was too occupied thinking about kissing her.

[blue_wayfinder]

"Eagle," she brought a hand up to his shoulder, finally looking up, "It's not your fault." she repeats seriously.

[eagleofthe_west]

"Yes, it is. I'm really sorry."


At times like these, Eagle kind of wishes that he were an ostrich instead.

"...Eagle."

She hated it when he got like this. She frowned.

"If you're to be blamed for now noticing them, then don't I also share the blame?"

"O-Of course not! I take all of the blame because I was distracted thinking about kissing, so none of it is your fault!"

[blue_wayfinder]

Oh.

She opened her mouth. Then closed it again.

Oh.

The blush came back worse than ever and she couldn't do much besides stare for a moment.

"You...were thinking about--"

Eagle decides that even if he can't just stick his head into the sand, the least he can do is hide his face in his hands.

"I-I'M SORRY! I'M REALLY SORRY! I-I won't do it again!"
