She feels more and more out of her depth with the situation. She can count the number of times he's acted like this outside of the public eye on her hands and still have fingers left over.

"I said in love, not loving someone like a pet."

In his defense, he only ever acted like this towards her. (Probably because doing this to Neuro really would end in manslaughter.)

"Then tell me what you mean by 'being in love', Yako-chan."

"...wanting to be with somebody all the time, and being attracted to them. Being happy when they are, and upset when somebody else makes them unhappy. Being able to imagine yourself with them years down the line, happy. That sort of 'in love', Sai."

"If it's just that...then there's no problem, right?"

He hugs her with a laugh, "I want to be with you, and I find you attractive."

Finding her cute should count as finding her attractive, he adds to himself. More attractive than Eleven or Neuro or Sicks, at any rate.

"I don't like it when someone else makes you unhappy and with me by your side, I can imagine that we'd be together forever."

"...eh?"

It takes a few seconds before his words really sink in, and Yako is left blinking owlishly.

"Wh...then you..." Her hands slip up to cover her face as the blush erupts once more with a vengeance. "...if this is a joke, I really, really won't forgive you, Sai."

That coming from the person whose only objection to marrying him was that he didn't want to marry her? He doubted that.

He grins, looking happy and proud of himself as he gently pulls her hands away from her face to lean in till the tip of his nose brushes hers, "Give me some credit, Yako-chan. When have I ever lied to you? Hm?"

"Never," she acknowledges. Never to her at least, since there was little to no point. To everybody else? Flagrantly, shamelessly, and wildly.

She locks eyes with him hesitantly, and her lips curl into a giddy little grin even as her cheeks somehow manage to burn even hotter. "...yes."

He pulls back at her answer to pout, voice mock-serious, "I thought you wanted me to propose 'properly' first, Yako-chan."

Her jaw drops for a split second, before she shakes it off. This is Sai; even when he's serious there's always something he can't help but tweak or tug. "...then do it."

He laughs at her reaction before he stands up, still holding on to her hands, mouth quirked into a smile, "Marry me, Yako-chan."

And as a team, they can work together and cause Neuro to pull his own hair out in frustration.

"Yes," she tells him again, this time a little more composed and a little less red. "But when Neuro and the tabloids go completely insane, I'm blaming you."

He's almost disappointed with how much cuter her first 'yes' had been in comparison to the second one though....

So he resolves to break down that composure as he leans in close again to give her his answer, "I'll protect you from them."

Their lips aren't quite touching, as he lets his hand rest against her face, content to stay where he was for now.

He could have just accepted that 'yes' and been done with it, but nooo, he had wanted to tease her just a little more. He's reaping what he sowed.

"Good." She leans forward and seals her mouth against his firmly. It's not her fist kiss by any stretch of the imagination, considering the roles she's had to take on, but it makes something in her stomach flutter all the same.

Cheater, he thinks as his lips slide against hers.

He'd just have to get her back for it some other way.

The hand against her cheek moves so it can tangle in her hair as he gently tilts her head back, partly because he liked the angle better, and partly because he wanted to leave no doubt in the mind of the next person who saw her, what she had been doing and with whom.

Her fingers clench in his shirt, unwillingly aiding him in making the evidence of what they're doing unmistakeable.

She's not thinking about making a claim or spreading their still-new decision around right now, though. She's not thinking about anything that isn't him, if she's being completely honest with herself. She's so happy she could burst, and she makes sure he knows it.

He hums appreciatively into the kiss before he pulls away with a smile, running a finger over her bottom lip.

He can tell that she's happy and if Sai were made to admit it, he'd say that he was pretty happy with how well the day had turned out.

She bites his thumb playfully, because God knows he's done it to her dozens of times when the cameras were rolling (albeit with a bit too much force), before letting go and leaning in to rest her forehead on his shoulder.

"...we should tell Ai first," she muses.

One hand strokes her hair as he leans back against her, "So she can save us from Neuro's wrath?"

He chuckles at the thought of that.

"Eh?" She gives him a confused look. "I'm...not sure God can do that, let alone Ai. I meant to arrange things, and help us figure out other important details. I don't know the first thing about planning a wedding, secret or otherwise."

"Knowing her," and the fact that Ai knows him so well, "She probably has a wedding planned out already."
