She threw her arms up, exasperated.

"That's not how it works!"

Fujiko glares at him.

"It won't mean anything unless it's from you."

"If I didn't buy one because I wanted to, would it make any difference?"

Ignoring that glare now.

"Of course not."

With his piece said, Shirogane resumes shelving books.

She glares at the back of his head for a moment, then she was marching right over to him and trying to turn him around with an arm on his shoulder.

"Don't ignore me!"

He's not as strong as she is, so she turns him around easily, but his expression is just as rebellious as hers, "What."

She didn't mean to sock him in the stomach. She really hadn't.

But she did anyway.

At least she didn't put any special powers behind it. It probably doesn't stop it from hurting though.

"You idiot!"

The rubble trembled and, slowly, one after another they rose into the air. She flung them carelessly to the side as they came loose and she's trying to calm down, because she can sense it, the space around her, but the skill is so rusty, so new that she can't especially under these circumstances. Not if she doesn't calm down.

"Don't you dare die! Do you hear me, Shirogane!? If you--if you dare die I'll hate you forever! Don't think I won't!"

Even though that's not what she wants to say at all. Somehow, it feels like whenever she's talking to him, she's always getting angry and saying the wrong things.

Sometimes, Fujiko does realize when she'd done something wrong. It's difficult for her to apologize so she usually doesn't, but she usually makes a valiant attempt first (even if her apologies are always accompanied by excuses).

Recently, though, she hasn't done anything like that, so she definitely didn't buy these books as an apology. It's just that she should be nice to her fiance once in a while, right?

"Shirogane!" She pushes the door open, a large crate in her hands.

And Shirogane wasn't surly all the time.

Okay, who are we kidding, he was surly all the time. Looking up from his book-keeping (done in neat, straight lines and perfectly-formed numbers, he rather liked book-keeping) with a scowl, certain that it was another customer asking him for yet another thing that they thought they could get if they just threw enough money at him.

But nope, it's just his fiancee. With an irritated sigh, he sets his pencil down and goes to help her with the crate.

"What."

"I brought you books!" She doesn't actually need help with the crate though, holding it as if it were light as a feather. (It wasn't.)

They're clean books too! Not even a single raunchy novel to be found. Utsumi had made sure of that.

"I brought them all the way back from abroad." Where she had recently been deployed to fight, but that's a discussion for another time (something like never).

He keeps forgetting that she's a lot stronger than she looks when he goes to take the crate. But he's not about to let her keep carrying it.

"....There better not be any pornographic novels in here."

"Well, there was one, but Utsumi-san took it." She'll angle her body away with a frown if she sees him trying to take it though

"I guess he does need it more than you do."
