"I have to open it at some point or it will just go to waste." She poured the last of it into her own glass before leaving the empty bottle on the railing.

"Besides, if there was anyone I wanted to share this with, it would be you."

"Hm."

He rests his head against the edge of the window, "I'm glad...that I came."

Fujiko's alcohol tolerance was levels above what was normal so she was usually nowhere near drunk even when everyone else was.

So she couldn't blame the flush on her cheeks on being drunk.

She smiled, almost shy as she took another sip of her champagne. "I'm glad too."

He smiles at her, before going back to sipping champagne and staring out into the night.

Okay, so she didn't get the answers she wanted to most of the questions she asked, but she kind of already expected some of those answers anyway. She could say that this evening, on the whole, was really nice and she was almost a little disappointed that he probably won't remember in the morning.

"Would you come again if Fujiko asked?"

"I always do as you ask, don't I?"

Eventually.

"Not at first." She pouted. "You were really cold to Fujiko at first! And everything Fujiko asked you always said 'no' even when I wasn't being unreasonable." For a given value of unreasonable.

"That was different. I didn't like you back then."

Well, you wanted honest.

There is such a thing as being too honest, Shirogane,

"...do you like me now?"

Even drunk though, he wasn't sure, because he'd never liked anyone. He knew it was described as a heart-pounding feeling, wanting them to be happy, wanting to be the source of their happiness. If it was that, then he guess...maybe he did like her.

"Probably."

She was quiet for a while before she just laughed helplessly before moving over to wound her arms around his neck. "I guess that's good enough."

Shirogane takes the opportunity to lean down and steal a kiss, which is something he probably wouldn't have done if he were completely sober. She was close though, and she smelled nice.

She was surprised when he kissed her, but the surprise didn't last long and it certainly didn't stop her from kissing him back.

Maybe it was the wine, or maybe it was Fujiko....Shirogane wasn't sure, but he didn't want to let go. He didn't want the kiss to end.

When he pulls back, he's looking at her still, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

She must have changed her mind about this a million times by now, but this time she was sure: she definitely needed to get him drunk more often.

She brought a hand up to catch the one tucking her hair with hers. She smiled at him before turning her head to place a quick kiss to the inside of his wrist.

He visibly swallows when he sees that smile, and his fingers curl reflexively when she presses her lips against his wrist. His eyes are intense as he runs a thumb over her jaw and down to her chin.

"Fujiko."

Then he's leaning down once again to capture her mouth with his, one hand sliding to her waist and pulling her close.

Actually, Fujiko really liked the way he said her name...well, when he wasn't yelling at her. (Even if his angry face was kind of cute.)

Her arms go behind his neck and, as much as he's drawing her in she was pulling herself closer. She hummed appreciatively and buried her fingers in his hair.

There was something about this infuriating and surprisingly fragile woman that turned all his thoughts into white noise, something that made it impossible to focus on anything but her.

He knew it had something to do with the pleasant, expensive wine, but it had more to do with her. With the fragrance of her skin, those beautiful eyes of hers. He pulls away to brush a soft kiss to her forehead, to her cheek, to the tip of her nose before his hand on her waist yanks her upwards, flush to him.

'She really is beautiful.'

It wasn't a particularly loud thought, but it fills his whole mind as he leans in to press a line of kisses to her jaw.

Fujiko has been called beautiful enough times that it really doesn't affect her.

Except when Shirogane says or thinks it, she's helpless against it, helpess to stop the warm, giddy feeling that spreads until, for the moment, she can't help but feel entirely content.

(And she shouldn't, because she's a ghost, a relic of the past that survived by chance while the blood of those she love soaked into her very skin.)

She tilts her head back with a soft smile, running her fingers through his hair with an appreciative hum.

With the exception of Ryuuko, most people he knew thought of him as a cold person. Cold and logical and without an ounce of passion or love in his heart. (Because passion for paperwork and the R&D department didn't count)

Fujiko was one of the only people in his life who brought that passion out of him, who made him want things he didn't know he'd wanted till he'd met her and till little by little, she'd wormed her way into his heart.

It wasn't the wine, although it had helped a lot, usually to make him more honest with himself.

Giving one last press of his lips to the spot right under her ear, he catches her mouth with his again, fingers resting against her jaw to coax her into opening her mouth to his.
