Hyoubu sees the wobble and it doesn't take him long to figure out why. Those damned Normals...

He kept that raging anger under-control though. There was something much more important right now. He reached out and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Wait." He bent down a little and, placing one arm across her back and another under her knees. Then, with a little help from his psychokinesis, he'll try to pick her up, princess style.

Oichi doesn't struggle, although the hands do hover for the briefest moment before disappearing when it seems like there is no threat. She blinks at him, hands in her lap and waiting for what is going to happen next.

He smiled down at her, a sad but sincere smile.

"Don't worry. I won't let anything happen to you."

[higannobana]

One hand comes up to brush against that sad smile, which leaves Oichi unhappy for reasons that she cannot name, "Why do you look sad........?"

He looked away, facing forward as he started to walk towards the door. The smile remained.

"Why indeed...I suppose it's because I don't like the thought of you being left in the dark."

[higannobana]

She frowns, because the smile is still there. What could she do to make that smile go away.

Oh.

With a hopeful, helpful tone, she recites, "Sadness...sadness...fly away. Fly...away..."

Making a fluttering motion with her hands, she shifts, smoky hands flaring up briefly to support her, as she leans up and presses a kiss against his cheek before smiling brilliantly at him.

He looked down when he heard her starting to speak. What came afterwards though, left him speechless and was actually enough to make him stop for a moment.

Did she just...?

(The smile was definitely gone at this point.)

Oh. It worked.

Her smile brightens now that his sad one is gone, and she settles back down against him.

He tightens his hold on her for a moment. Not so tight that he'd cause her any discomfort. Just...tighter, as if he was afraid of dropping her. He wasn't entirely sure how to react to what just happened.

He was a little glad when Momotarou floated over.

Kyousuke, are you finished?

"Yeah. Ichi, this is Momotarou. Even though he might not look it, he's really very dependable."

Oichi isn't even fazed by what she just did. As far as she was concerned too, it was over and done with and put out of her mind.

"Momotarou."

She wasn't sure if she was supposed to reach her hand out to the creature, so she keeps holding onto Hyoubu instead. Momotarou though, is curious and flies closer.

Ichi? Like the number?

"No. Like the name of the sister of a certain feudal lord who has no relation to the current situation." He almost made a jab at Momotarou's lack of knowledge about history but decided to save that for another day. He didn't need to start an argument with Momotarou right now.

Momotarou flew over and hovered near her, waving one paw in greeting.

It's nice to meet you, Ichi.

[higannobana]

Oichi reaches out a finger hesitantly, poking that one paw, "Momotarou...Momotarou is talking in Ichi's head."

She looks wonderingly up at Hyoubu for an explanation.

"He's an esper like us. He'll be part of your family from now on."

That's right! I'll help protect you from now on! He drifted closer to her, heedless of the fact that she was the woman who was known as the Demon Queen. I'm really strong, you know.

[higannobana]

"Stronger than Ichi?"

Because that would be really strong indeed.

[atleast80]

Yeah!

Hyoubu smirked. "He talks big but you know once he landed in--"

I already said that wasn't me!

[higannobana]

She tilts her head, confused by the conversation...but then she perks up and looks towards a shadowy hall where a figure walks towards them.

Well....walk would be incorrect. It limped, one hand holding onto his side as crimson blood stains the already dark floors.

"........?"

This close, it would be harder to not notice when her attention drifted.

Momotaro noticed as well, the fur on his back stood on end and he bared his teeth.

Kyousuke!

"Yeah, I know." After a moment, he crouched, letting one knee rest on the ground as he moved Oichi to sit on his other knee.

Tell Magi and them to make sure no one else gets away. He sends.

But!

Do it. He kept his eyes on Oichi and smiled even as he kept his attention on the whole room. I can take care of things here.

Then, to Oichi, he said out loud, "Ichi. Do you trust me?"

She turns her attention away from the figure, focusing intently on Hyoubu's face, "....Yes."

"You really shouldn't."

The hand behind her shoulders snakes around to tenderly cover her eyes.

At the same time, he brings his free hand up, and with the barest twitch of his fingers, the man's eyes bulge and then he's clawing at his neck. He couldn't even get enough air in to gasp or cough. Hyoubu's fingers curled further anyway, further tightening the invisible grip on the man's throat.

"I'm a monster, you know."

[higannobana]

She doesn't close her eyes even when he covers them. She blinks at his words, eyelashes brushing against his palm, "Ichi is a monster too."

And to prove it, a smoky hand forms under the man that Hyoubu is attacking, dragging him and holding him down until he stops struggling.

He didn't even bat an eye at that. Could this be considered poetic justice?

Still, this wasn't something he wanted her to see, in case she knew this man.

"Do you want to be? A monster I mean."

[higannobana]

"..........Ichi is a monster."

It wasn't a matter of wanting to be, or not wanting to be. She knew this better than anyone. She was a monster.

The hands flicker, snaking from the shadows and even from Hyoubu's own shadow.

[atleast80]

"But you don't have to be. You can be whatever you want to be."

He was aware of the shadows, but chose to ignore them for now.

"So, what do you want to be, Ichi? Whether it is a monster or a regular person, whatever you want to be I'll make sure you can reach that goal."

[higannobana]

The hands pause at that, unsure as their mistress looks up into Hyoubu's face.

"Ichi.........Ichi just wants to be Ichi."

[atleast80]

The man stops moving and Hyoubu takes that as his cue to just teleport the body out of here. When it was gone he takes his hand off her eyes.

"Then that's what you can be. You don't need to be the Demon Queen or a monster. You can just be Ichi."
