Despite the fact that his room was now full of flowers and plants to the point where everyone living in the same apartment had, with varying degrees of affection, dubbed it "The Jungle", he wasn't actually that good with flowers.

Somehow (probably because of Hikari-san), the flowers had managed to thrive.

He did know a lot about different kinds of flowers though. He had read up on them with a smile on his face as he thought of impressing her. But even with the knowledge of 50 different species of roses, he can only manage an extremely eloquent, "What...What kinds do you have today?"

Smooth, Shou.

She would be glad to hear that the flowers were doing well. Tsubomi really did think that flowers were such lovely things.

"We just got a beautiful shipment of beach roses." Tsubomi said with a smile, obviously enjoying her job and working with flowers. "But if you wanted something more like traditional roses, we have some really nice pink ones in the back."

"Then...then...beach roses. Because...well..the flower meaning is..."

He turns his face to look out the window, "Never mind."

"It mean 'gentle, beautiful and joy', right?" Tsubomi smiled and leaned her broom against the side of the building. "It has a wonderful meaning."

"Y-Yes. It kind of reminds me of...s-someone I...l-l-know. So."

He had almost managed it this time.

"Your manager, right?" She wouldn't be surprised if Minamoto-san's heart flower was beach roses.

"I'll make sure to go in and pick the best one we have for you."

"Eh. No! Of course it's not Minamoto-san. I mean, she's okay. But she's old!"

Who did he look like? Kaoru?!

"It's someone else!"

"She's not that old..." And why did he suddenly say that about Minamoto-san? Either way though, "Then I'm sure whoever it is you're thinking of must be an amazing person."

With that she heads into the store.

"I'll just be a moment."

And he just lost his chance to tell her that it was her. She was the amazing person.

Damn it...why did she have to be so cute?! He runs a hand through his hair to distract him from the urge to hit his head against a wall.

AND THEN SUDDENLY ERIKA

That was really sad. Like, pathetic, sad and not sad. sad.

"I see you still haven't been able to tell her."

GET OUT ERIKA

Oh. It's you.

"It's not that I haven't been able to tell her, it's that I'm biding my time."

"If you say so." Forgive her if she doesn't sound very convinced. "If you ask me, you should just tell her instead of dancing around the issue."

"I am not dancing around the issue."

Except he totally is. Shou crosses his arms, "I just haven't found a good time to."

"But you had one right there and you wasted it." Yes, she was standing there during that conversation right now. "If you need help, all you have to do is ask."

"I don't need help from you."

And just to drive the point home, he turns his back on her. Humph.

"Really?" Turning your back on her won't stop her from walking around so she was in front of you. "Because it looks like you could use all the help you could get to me."

Okay, fine. So he needs help. BUT HE'S NOT ADMITTING THAT TO HER.

"From you?"

Shou scoffs, "The fourteen year old destined to be a spinster? No way."

Okay. Wow. Rude.

Erika's eye twitches.

"I'm not going to become a spinster! How can you say that about a beautiful girl like me?"

"I call it like I see it."

[cure_marine]

"You need to get your eyes checked, then!."

She hmphs and crosses her arms, "Don't come crying to me when you realize you need my help!"

"I won't."

He probably will.

"What do you know, anyway? Fourteen-year-old-spinster."
