He didn't try to stop her from pulling back. He did, however look confused by the accusation.

"How am I a pervert?"

"An ancient ghost holding a thirteen year-old girl's hand. Tell me what part of that doesn't make you a pervert."

And he had the gall to look confused about it too.

[directking]

"I'm still not sure which part of it makes me a pervert."

[i_have_a_taser]

"Every single part."

It says a lot about the kind of person he was that he actually stopped to think about it.

And thought about it.

And thought about it.

"...I don't understand how."

[i_have_a_taser]

"That sounds like an excuse to me."

[directking]

"It's not an excuse." Of course, he supposed she wouldn't know (even though he had a feeling he was being toyed with). He held out his hand to her.

"If you don't believe me, you can check." It honestly didn't bother him in the least.

She slaps her hand into his. Probably with more force than necessary.

It wasn't because he held his hand out to her despite knowing that she could read it. And that kind of raised her regard for him.

Mostly it was that he pissed her off. Stupid ghost.

Ryuuko has never felt like he had anything to hide. Even when he went behind Shirogane's advice to create Kou he had never technically gone behind Shirogane's back. He had, honestly and without hiding his intentions presented his idea to Shirogane. It was just that he decided not to heed his Counterpart's advice in light of the fact that he was fairly confident in his calculations and because Shirogane's opinion was rendered invalid since he hadn't even bothered to hear Ryuuko out.

His hand curls around her more gently. It was probably more natural to do that than to not move his hand at all.

Shiho really was tempted to slap him and run away crying about how he was a pervert.

But she was pretty sure no one but her could see him. She would look like a nutcase.

So she settles with doing what she gave him her hand to do. And doesn't like what she sees at all.

"You, are a Grade A jerk."

[directking]

Ryuuko wasn't even offended. Just like when Shisui said he was unlike what the human King had imagined, Ryuuko was merely curious.

"How so?"

"Treating the people who care about you like that. You don't even understand what you're doing when you're doing it."

[directking]

"I'm not sure which instance you're referring to." Becuase, for all that he wasn't quite human, Ryuuko actually did know what he was doing to them. When he still chose to do what he did, it was because it made the most sense, even if it meant hurting himself or others.

"But I've never made my decisions lightly." There was a flicker of sadness and regret in his eyes, but his voice was firm. "I did what I had to."

"Every single instance! Saying things like 'it makes sense'. What kind of an insensitive thing is that?!"

She couldn't understand it. Maybe, maybe once when she was little and thought the world was a dark place, she would have agreed. Whatever would make everything easier.

But Kaoru-chan had changed that. And the very thought that someone could make a choice that would hurt those important to him...that was unforgivable.

[directking]

"I won't claim that I hadn't made mistakes, but if I were given the chance to make those decisions again I don't suppose I'd change to many of them."

It wasn't only those around him that was hurting. In the process he had been hurt himself. Still, if given the choice he would still ask Shirogane to kill him, would still create Kou, would still choose to not see Shirogane...those were choices he was confidant had been correct.

[i_have_a_taser]

"Idiot! If you're going to hurt yourself, and hurt others, those are obviously the wrong choices! Idiot! Super idiot!"

[directking]

He stared at her for a moment before he smiled.

"You're very kind."

[i_have_a_taser]

She gives him a suspicious look at that.

"You....are not right in the head."

[directking]

"How so?"

[i_have_a_taser]

"Your reactions are not the reactions of a normal person."

.....Actually....

"You're pretty interesting, huh. For a ghost."

[directking]

"That's probably because I'm not a normal person."

That was why he wanted to bring in human Kings.

[i_have_a_taser]

"Hmph."

Her hand is still holding his, and she can read it from him. He was some sort of....entity, right? Not human and so strange.

[directking]

"In how much detail can you read what I am? You seem to know about the manner of my death, and my thoughts, but you seem to come to new conclusions over time." Which is fascinating.

"Do you not read everything all at once? Is it easier if I am thinking about something?"
