She pulls away...much too soon, if she had anything to say about it. But this wasn't exactly a comfortable position, and she knew that. Shiho simply pouts at him, giving his sandy hair a gentle tug, "If it isn't comfortable, you have to say it, stupid Ryuuki."

"What a waste. Besides, I want a big crib. A round one. With a canopy."

Yes, even if the child was a boy.

When he took one of her paws in his hand, her fingers curled over his hand. She could feel her heart hammering in her chest and it felt amazing and alittle terrifying all at once.

She took a deep breath and turned to look at him, making sure to not stare him in the eys by accident. More than anything, she wanted to make this moment perfect. Her faces was still red, but she looks certain...even if the grip on his hand tightens.

"I..." She purses her lips, "I'm ready."

The man stops moving and Hyoubu takes that as his cue to just teleport the body out of here. When it was gone he takes his hand off her eyes.

"Then that's what you can be. You don't need to be the Demon Queen or a monster. You can just be Ichi."

The ring really was beautiful. She wasn't exactly surprised by that fact because she had been the one who told him exactly what she wanted and Fujiko has impeccable taste.

Still, there was something about the way it looked on her finger, about the way it looked when he was putting it on her that made her heart flutter.

She was probably smiling like an idiot, she knew, as she stared down at her hand but she can't bring herself to care.

Fujiko looked up though, at his question. Her smile softened.

Forever was something she was never able to promise him...no, not just him. Ever since the war, she hadn't been afraid of promising anyone that. Times were cruel then and she had experience enough broken promises that she couldn't trust herself to promise something like that. Then as the years passed it became a promise she couldn't possibly keep and the act of making it would be nothing but a lie.

Funny how it was here, after dying, when she finally felt safe to make this promise again.

"I promise." The words were quiet, but sure as she moved her hand to lace their fingers together. "This time, it will be forever."

After all, the usual vows were 'Till death do us part' and they're already past that and they were still here together. There was nothing else that could pull them apart now.

She wasn't sure what she expected from him, really. She already knew he completely sucked at empathy and romance...so why here? Why did she...?

She took a shaky breath and, without even thinking, she took a step closer and wrapped her arms around him, burying her face in his shirt.

She brought her hands up to tangle in his hair. If she were to be honest, she actually really liked doing that. Shirogane's hair was just very nice to touch, to the point where Fujiko was sometimes even a little jealous.

Right now, though, there were far more interesting things to enjoy. Like the weight of his hands on her back and way it feels to be pressed against him like this. It was different from when they'd make out before. There's something more...charged this time and it made a difference.

She pulled back just enough to gave his lowerlip a gentle and experimental nip.

"Then she shouldn't have thrown it!"

Fujiko was kind of sore about this interuption...in case you couldn't tell from the way she huffed and crossed her arms.

She tightens her grip minutely, and sidles right up to him, pressing close.

"This is standard for a date." She informs him matter-of-factly.

"So cold."

Ah, she'd said that already hadn't she?

He nods.

"We can go shop for one later."

Eventually, the rain stops and he sees her back home hand-in-hand.

It was there that Kouyuu finally catches up to them (with Shuuei there) and Ryuuki is bodily dragged back to the Shi Estate in Belcius.

As that happens he's still waving at her and yelling, "Shiho! I'll come see you as soon as I'm finished!"

His ears flattened, but he listened carefully anyway.

"...I never realized there were so many rules."

"No." Then she paused...then laughed. "Actually, there is one thing."

She laced her hands behind her back and smiled at him with her head canted a little to one side.

"Welcome back."

Now he feels bad...Eagle bites his lip and he's certain that his ears are red too....but he doesn't want Ryuuki to be unhappy.

"I...I guess it doesn't matter if you d-do it in the day. And as long as no one is actually looking...."

This actually makes what he said before entirely moot.

He titlted his head, not entirely sure why she's pouting.

"But it doesn't matter." He doesn't move to stop her from tugging, it didn't particularly bother him either way. "As long as it's you it's fine no matter how uncomfortable I am."

He is totally oblivious to how that could be interpreted..at least at the moment.

Not...exactly. [She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear and laughed, because suddenly this all made sense.]

Well, I guess people do use it as a chance to give one to a girl they like! But the ceremony is symbolic of the relationship between an Undine and the sea.

"That's not true." She almost stumbles when he pulls her in, but sha manages to catch herself and not stumble right into him. As she was finding her rhythm again she smiled up at him. "Shirogane-san is always so calm and confiedent in everything he does...it makes me more confident as well."

"O-Okay."

He takes a deep, steadying breath and tries to ignore the mounting panic that's rising in his mind. What if he was really bad at this? What if she didn't like it? What if he missed and accidentally kissed a tree and then got engaged to it through some obscure ritual? (No doubt obscure because it was made up by Kangaroo.)

Screwing his eyes up tight and hoping that he's not making a weird face, he leans in and manages to press a kiss to the corner of her mouth. With his heart beating a mile a minute, he pulls away and looks down at their clasped hands, embarrassed and his mind chasing thoughts of hoping that he hadn't failed just because he missed a little bit, hoping that she liked it as he had, wondering if all kisses were this soft....and wondering if she'd let him kiss her again if he asked.

"There is no need for you to base your confidence on someone else. You are not uncoordinated when you are in your boat. Take confidence in that."

He knew this better than anyone, because he'd seen her poling up to the house where he was staying, every moment sure and calm. That was one of the reasons why he'd gone on all these trips with her, after all. He was a person that appreciated a job well done when he saw it.

....And then the song comes to a close, and with one final turn, he releases her and steps back.

There is a slight softening in his eyes when he hears that, because missed it. He missed her.

His expression remains as steely as ever though, "I'm back."

........He really should have brought an umbrella stand. This is what Shirogane thought as he watched the tiny blue speck that was the handle of Akari's umbrella as it was carried away out to sea.

The evening had started out quiet enough. He had retreated to the higher level of his home because electronics and water just didn't get along. He had expected to spend the day quietly, since who in their right mind came to visit at this time? (But that was the Man-Home resident in him thinking, mostly.)

What he hadn't expected was a girl wearing rain boots and a bright smile at his door who had apparently come for no reason at all. That...he was okay with, and they had had dinner together. But now that it was time for her to go home....he's sure that he can't even see the umbrella anymore in this rain.

"If you're cold, then get a blanket. And get off me."

He attempts to push her away again.

Having never been on a proper date...Shirogane isn't actually sure if that was true. (The last time he'd gone on one was a very long time ago. It had been a very silent walk from their high school to the library and then finally to him telling the girl that this was a waste of time and leaving on his own.)

He manages to bite out a clipped, "Fine."

Hopefully this would be over with soon.

He pulls the sword out with a smooth motion, feeling the weight in his hand for a moment....and then he chucks it out as far as it can go into the forest.
