She has no idea what being cute even means, because hello, canary princess that's been raised her whole life in safety and seclusion.

"Why not? Is it not my fault?"

"....how the hell am I even supposed to answer that!?"

Veronica looks up at him with a little tilt of her head, "You may answer it normally. I am asking you a question."

And why is he getting mad....

"Ugh...just. Forget it!" He put his face in his hands and then grumbled, "Forget I said anything."

He's not really mad so much as embarrassed really.

She reaches out to pull his hand away gently, curious as to what kind of expression he was making,

"I cannot forget something just because you wish for me to."

He tenses when she tries to pulls his hands away. She wouldn't be able to do it if Lion didn't let her (a lion was stronger than a canary after all), but after a momen't hesitation, he allows his hands to be pulled away.

He looks to the side with a huff, as if that would stop her from seeing the blush on his face.

"Tch."

She tilts her head to regard him for a moment before she smiles at him, brushing the back of her hand against his cheek, "Your face has become very red."

He was so determined to not look at her, he didn't even see what she was doing. So he starts when her hand brushes against hsi face and he leans back while clapping a hand over his cheek.

He frowned. "And whose fault do you think that is?"

Veronica lets him lean away, although she does feel a bit dejected that he seems to be rejecting her touch, "Is it mine?"

What Lion wants to say is, 'no. Not really. Please stop making that face.' because he can't help but feel like he's done something wrong when she looks like that.

What comes out of his mouth though is this: "Yes--no--I--why are you making that face?"

At that, Veronica brings a hand up to her own face, because as far as she was aware....she wasn't really making much of a strange face. Then again, she wasn't seeing herself from his point of view, was she?

"I do not understand what you are talking about, Lion. Is there something wrong with my face?"

She blinks her blue eyes up at him, more confused than ever.

"Just..." Lion makes a strangled sound and then put his hands on her shoulders, bowing his head in defeat. "Just stop."

"What is it that I am suppose to stop doing?"

She cups a hand against his face to try to raise his head. Veronica honestly liked it more when she could actually see the person she was talking to.

"I do not understand, Lion."

He grumbles under his breath and looks up (but not because of the hand on his face, okay!?)

He frowns and pokes her on the forehead.

"Quit looking so sad because of what I say. I don't like it."

[protectthecastle]

She takes her hand away from his face to rub at her forehead, not sure what she had done to warrant it.

"I apologize. I did not notice that I was making a sad face. What kind of a face should I make then?"

He sighed.

"I don't know!" He was going to exasperated but couldn't help sounding a little fond. Honestly...

His hand went to cup the back of her neck before pulling her close so their foreheads touched. "Just not that one, okay?"

At that, Veronica smiles, blue eyes bright as she leans in a little further.

"Alright. I promise I will not make that one."

She brushes her cheek affectionately against his before giving him a little nip against the side of his jaw to seal the promise.

"Tch."

He couldn't quite turn away when she was smiling like that so all he did was grumble a bit. There weren't any actual words, just a faint rumble of something that could have been discontent except his expression was entirely too fond for that.

The brush against his cheek made him blush more than the nip to his jaw (though nowhere near the kind of reaction she could have gotten if she had pressed her nose to his forehead. There just wasn't the same kind of implication in the action to Lion).

His thumb pressed against her throat and gently drew idly circles on the skin there while his other arm wrapped around her waist, holding her.

He's unfortunately much too tall for her to press her nose against his forehead, but her eyes close at the brush of his thumb against her throat and there is a soft, contented sound from her as she leans into his touch. She nudges her nose against his neck, burying her face into his neck and his warmth.

The hand on her neck eventually moved up to run through her hair almost idly.

It was...nice, being close to her like this. She was warm and Lion liked the way she smelled.

He wondered idly, how she and sSnowy Owl can both be birds and yet be so different.

After a moment, though, Lion yawned. Damn, it was way to early for him to be awake right now...

She feels the yawn rather than sees it, but it makes her look up with a gentle laugh, "If you are tired, we can take an afternoon nap?"

"Yeah. That would be nice..."

Veronica smiles up at him, and drawing his hand from her hair and to her lips before she pulls him to her bed. (It was more of a wide, backless couch, really. Like Eagle, she slept sitting up.)

He doesn't blush at her smile. Not at all. (Spoiler: he did.)

He lets her pull him towards the couch and he knows what it's for because he'd seen something similar at Eagle's place, but...

"Can we both fit on that?"

[protectthecastle]

If he blushed, she didn't notice. She was more occupied with fluffing up pillows and trying to clear enough space for the two of them.

"I am sure it will be fine. I can roll from one end to the other, so there must be enough space. Come, Lion."

She sits down and then gives the spot beside her an expectant pat.
