Akari all but flopped onto her bed.

Business was really starting to pick up again enough that she had had a really busy day.

She stared at her ceiling for a moment before breaking into a wide smile.

It was such a wonderful feeling.

She caught something moving out of the corner of her eye and she saw her laptop being pushed onto her bed, quickly followed by Aria-shachou climbing over the edge. She glanced at the clock up on the wall before sitting up.

"Ah. It's time again, isn't it?" She pulled the laptop over and booted it up as Aria-shachou made himself comfortable at the foot of her bed.

She clicked the video chat icon once it was ready then waited for it to be picked up from the other end.

Meanwhile over on Man-home, breakfast time had just started, and that was where Shirogane was with his food and laptop. When he hears the ping that signals the video chat icon, he sets his cup down immediately and brings up the window to pick up.

Business had been like it was usually over where he was. The change of pace had taken some getting used to, and he still occasionally found himself staring out the window absentmindedly, but he was sure that with time everything would be okay.

Which is why the first thing that comes out of his mouth when he sees her on-screen is, "How is business?"

She leaned back against her headboard with a smile.

"It's starting to pick up again after Alicia-san left." Which was really nice. "Aria-shachou and I have been really busy this week."

She reached a hand up to tuck a stray piece of hair behind her ear.

"How are things with you?"

"I told you everything would be fine."

He also leans back in his chair, feeling calmer somehow.

"Everything here is fine as well. Busier now that I'm back and I can make sure no one is slacking."

Kou, especially.

Akari laughed a little.

"I'm sure they must be glad to have you back."

"I wouldn't know something like that."

Because whether they were glad or not, he was going to make them work. If they were smart, they'd know this.

"I'm sure they are. Because it's Shirogane-san."

As for what she means by that...probably only Akari herself knew.

"Hmph."

If he cared at all (which he didn't), he'd probably have noticed that because it was him that no one was really that happy to see him at all. Sure, he was good at what he did...but he was scary...

"Ah. That reminds me! I met a friend of yours today."

[thelongestword]

"Friend....?"

He doesn't have any friends!

[distantblue]

"Mm-hm."

(What does he consider Ryuuko then?) Akari, on the other hand, couldn't imagine why he wouldn't have any friends.

"His name is Kou-san and he said he works in the same company as you."

Shirogane immediately sits up straight when he hears that name.

Kou. He should have guessed.

"Whatever he does or says, even if he begs: ignore him."

[distantblue]

"...why?"

[thelongestword]

"Because he's going to disappear from your sight soon."

Back to Pluto with you, Kou.

"Oh. Is he going back already?" That's too bad, Akari thinks. He seemed nice and besides, she felt like it's too short of a trip. But if it was for work then there's no helping it.

"He is. There is a lot he left behind that he needs to get done."

Like his transfer papers to Pluto.

"And whatever he said to you, you can feel free to ignore it."

[distantblue]

"Ah, well." She laughs, "I can't ignore a costumer, Shirogane-san!" She hums a little, "but I guess if he's leaving soon, I'll have to make sure to show him as much of Neo-Venezia as I can tomorrow."

The look on his face can really only be described as murderous. Or sulky. Or possibly a combination of both.

"Leave him to die."

[distantblue]

"...that, I really can't do."

She said with an awkward smile. After a moment though, her expression turned soft.

"You should come too next time, Shirogane-san."

"......I will when work is less busy."

He can't promise her when that's going to happen though.

[distantblue]

She doesn't need a promise like that. A promise to come one day is good enough for her.

"I'll look forward to it."

[thelongestword]

"It may not be for a while."

[distantblue]

"Then it just means I have more time to look forward to your arrival." She propped her chin on her palm. "It's a bit lonely, I admit, but when it's something pleasant at the end of the wait, it's also...kind of a warm feeling."

".......It may not be for a very long while."

Because he didn't want to lie to her.

"That's fine."
