He's not sure he heard correctly because haha, Eagle could have sworn he just heard Lion tell him to move over.

"What? What did you say?"

That earns him a laugh, "I apologize for being weird."

She didn't think she was being weird though. Was it so bad to like smiling at the one that made her happy?

She didn't think so.

"That's fine."

"It's....busy."

I can spell. Really.

She blinks, but then she smiles at him, as if she didn't realize she was being scolded. (She did, but even this was a kind of happiness for her. One she hadn't thought she'd ever experience again.)

She brings her arms up to wrap around the back of his neck.

"As my king commands."

"I said: move over." And when Lion is close enough he leans over to nudge Eagle. Just in case he missed what he said again.

"Don't apologize for something like that!"

Ugh, seriously, what was with her? (And why did he find her so cute?)

"You- What are you doing? You can't just-!"

He sits up, but makes no motion to move over.

"This is my bed!"

She has no idea what being cute even means, because hello, canary princess that's been raised her whole life in safety and seclusion.

"Why not? Is it not my fault?"

It's embarrassing, but she asked him and he won't say no. Especially not if it meant sitting next to her.

Just...not too close. He didn't want to look like he was being overly familiar if she didn't want that.

"That...would be nice."

She was trying to kill him. He was sure of it. But at the same time...it's impossible to say no to her, no matter what she did.

Not trusting himself to manage to say what he wants to say without biting his own tongue, he bites his lip and nods.

"....how the hell am I even supposed to answer that!?"

"I know that!" It was a quiet hiss though, because he doesn't want Keith in here again. "But I can't sleep because this place smells weird and you're the same way so we should just share a bed."

How he managed to say that without feeling embarrasses is anyone's guess.

I'm sure you can.

There's the slightest huff against her ear as he concedes to that point, at least. Content just to lean against her, he buries his head into her shoulder, still holding her much too tight and too possessively.

Veronica looks up at him with a little tilt of her head, "You may answer it normally. I am asking you a question."

And why is he getting mad....

"J-Just because that's true doesn't mean that it's a reason to share a bed! Go back! Don't come any closer!"

Eagle all but hisses at him, and if he had his wings he'd probably be beating them in agitation.

"It would be nice if that was true."

Eagle thinks that's kind of mean of them though. Aya was really sweet. And kind. And cute.

And he stops himself right there, because he walks into a tree.

When she opens her eyes again, it's to watch him as he talks with an expression of absolute trust on her face. He had promised. He had promised.

And with that, she leans into him again, burying her head against his chest and holding onto his clothes tightly.

"But Ichi wants to stay."

And with that, she grabs onto his other sleeve with her free hand.

"Kyousuke, please let Ichi stay. Ichi wants to stay."

"Uh..."

This was totally unfair. Totally and completely unfair. Instinctively he tries to jerk his arm back when she grabs it but stops just short of pulling out of her grip. It seemed like a cruel thing to do.

"I..." He sighed and then smiled at her fondly. "All right. You can stay." And then when she's asleep maybe he'll carry her back to her own room.

[higannobana]

Her eyes light up at that and there's only a moment's hesitation before she leans her forehead against his with a smile, "Kyousuke."

"Kyousuke, thank you."

She pulls back, "Ichi...Ichi is happy."

[higannobana]

Oichi's breathing has returned to the rhythmic deep breathing of someone sleeping yet again.

Eve canted her head, then gently pinched Oichi's nose when she didn't wake up.

"I said, I'm not angry."

But he was. He was angry at her, at himself, at Bart, at the prince. Damn them. Damn them for ruining everything.

There's a quiet struggle, and then Oichi is opening her eyes and looking very confusedly at Eve.
