"I think we might just both end up catching a cold if we did that, Veronica."

Her expression is a little exasperated but still very fond and she squeezes Veronica's fingers back.

"Perhaps we could just turn on a fan, then? They are not as cold."

Sorry, but this idea's already taken root in her head. Veronica kind of likes the cool air that hits her skin when they enter the grocery store, and as she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, she turns to smile at Changge.

"What shall it be? Spicy food? Salad?"

Changge got the feeling that she wasn't going to win this argument so she'll just concede on this point.

"The fan would be fine."

She returns the smile without really thinking about it, before turning to look ahead again.

"Truly, I would prefer spicy food over salad."

Veronica likes winning arguments through logic, and there's a warm quirk of her mouth as they make their way through the store.

"What about a spicy salad, Changge?"

"That's...is that even something people make?" She's no expert on salads, but she's never heard of such a thing.

"And why ever not? It is simply a combination of a flavour and a dish. That is what cooking is at its very essence."

Says the princess who cooks terribly.

"But there are some combinations that just do not go well together."

She pauses to think.

"I believe there are some spicy appetizers that are chilled."

Veronica looks very surprised, "There are?"

She'd always assumed that if you could put it in one pot that it would go together.

"Are they also foods from your home country, Changge?"

"Yes."

Changge is no chef, but she understands food and fine cuisine well enough to know that that's not how it works.

She nods with a smile, "They are enjoyed by the people who live closer to the north-east."

"Then let us make them!"

It's as easy said as done, right? (At least Veronica thinks so.)

"What is in them? Do you think they have the ingredients here?"

No, not really. But it's always fun to try.

"I will have to see if the supermarket has them. They probably do and whatever they don't have we can probably make do using something else..."

"Then let us go and look to see what they have."

The grocery store is bustling at this time of the day with locals as well as other Guests milling about, thinking about the day's meals.

"What is in this appetizer?"

She pulls Changge along to the produce section to start, her eyes alighting on the satin-skinned apples and she smiles at the bright pop of colour.

"There are a few. Probably our best bet would be the make the one with thin strips of potatoes with chilli. The potatoes are boiled until just cooked so they're still crunchy."

She thought about what were the spices that went in it. Peppers, definitely. Chilli oil. Parlsey?

She sees the way Veronica smiles at the apples. "Would you like to buy some?"
