She watches him putter out of the corner of her eye, and as she pours the first of the pancakes into the pan, she looks up at him and calls-

"Eagle? Would you mind terribly getting some plates out? I want you to enjoy these while they are nice and warm."

Eagle brightens up immediately at the thought of being of use, "I'll get them. The bigger ones?"

He rummages around in the cupboards and holds out a dinner plate, "Is this big enough?"

It's the brightening that she enjoys, more than anything- and while it's surprising that having something to do is what manages it, she's just glad to see him cheer up like that.

"That should do, yes."

She motions toward the empty counter space behind her with a tilt of her head.

"Put two of them there. Did we want anything else to eat or drink with these, by the way?"

He moves to do as she says, looking back at her with a smile, "I'm not sure. What do you normally eat with pancakes?"

Salmon?

"Well, eggs- which we have- bacon or sausage... hash browns... anything you would like to, really."

Although the 'salmon' thing might throw her for a loop but... lox and bagels, right?

"You can decide, I'm fine with anything."

And he really was. As long as she was happy, he really didn't have a preference.

She pauses to peer at the pancake, and seeing that it's ready, gives it an expert flip with a shake of the pan.

"Bacon and toast it is. Do we have any jam?"

"I'll check."

He starts to set the table with plates, forks and knives, then walks past to look in the fridge. Jam.....ah.

Eagle pulls out a jar of strawberry jam. "This, right?"
