Any disappointment Natsuru might have started to feel at the possible denial is quickly swept away by the rest of Veronica's statement. It's a wonder she isn't stunned absolutely speechless.

"O-oh... um... so do I..."

Her voice comes out stilted and awkward, and it's only after the words are out that she realizes what she said.

"I-... I mean it's nice! I'd... kind of like to touch you, too."

It's an honest admission, and innocent enough in the context she's thinking of. But her expression goes from slightly stunned to abject horror as the many ways that could be taken suddenly hit. It starts to feel like time is standing still as she panics over how Veronica might react, but she's still not coming up with an explanation fast enough!

Veronica actually pauses at that statement, staring at Natsuru (possibly until she's uncomfortable).

She's thinking though, that's all. And the conclusion that she comes to makes her get up from her seat and walk to stand by Natsuru. Taking Natsuru's hands in her own she smiles down at her.

"Well?"

The stare certainly does make Natsuru uncomfortable, and she's convinced she said something very wrong. "Um, that is... I, uh... I meant..."

She freezes and immediately clams up once Veronica comes over and stands next to her. And she's even more surprised when she feels her hands taken in Veronica's.

She's staring up at the blonde the whole time in shock, but she's not recoiling away. In fact, her hands even relax into the touch, holding Veronica's gently. There might even be a faint touch of a smile developing. As her heart threatens to beat right out of her chest.

A questioning look creeps in after a moment, though. Holding hands is nice, but... is there more to this? Should Natsuru be doing something else now, or would that be too much? She's not panicking over it just yet, but she really doesn't know how to handle this sort of thing.

"Is, uh... is this... okay?"

Wasn't it supposed to be okay?

She honestly thought....that it was nice. Veronica very much liked the gentle feeling of those warm hands in hers.

So she's not really sure, so she gently brushes her thumb against the back of Natsuru's hand as she tilts her head, expression mildly confused as she looks down at the other girl.

"Yes?"

It takes a moment of confused staring, but Natsuru seems to come to the same conclusion. It really is nice, and she holds Veronica's hands just a bit more firmly as she looks up and smiles. Her touch is still gentle, maybe even a little hesitant, but she seems to have accepted that it's okay.

It's more than okay, really. It's perfect. If Veronica really doesn't mind, she'd want to do this all the time. All those little gestures, touches, signs of affection - she's always wanted to, but it can be so easy to worry that anything will be going too far and Veronica will hate her for it.

"... Does it always feel this nice?" A faint blush traces across her cheeks again, but she's so caught up in Veronica she's still smiling. "... Wh-when you touch me? I mean... it always feels nice for me, but..."

"I do not know if it is like this for others, but I do know that I like it."

Veronica gently shifts her grip, lacing their fingers together with a smile, "Like this....with our hands touching, it almost feels like we are linked together, does it not?"

Her eyes are soft as she leans forward to rest her forehead against Natsuru's, "Like this...it is so very warm and comforting. You are the one closest to me, and I am the one closest to you. I feel as if nothing could be more perfect than this moment."

Maybe it was because her homeland was a cold place, or the fact that for most of her life people kept their distance mindful of who she was, but one of the things she loved more than anything was warmth. Whether it was the warmth of sunshine, of a freshly drawn bath, of laughter and talking, of life itself...she loved all of it. So to someone like her, touching and wanting to be touched were as natural as breathing.

Natsuru's speechless the whole time, but the warmth in her eyes signals her agreement. She never really thought about it that way, but... she likes the way Veronica describes it. Warm and comforting... she felt that way about Veronica's presence in general, not just when they touch. But the touch adds even more.

Closing her eyes, she gives a contented little sigh. She just wants to stay like this for a moment.

What happens next could be a total accident or Natsuru going along with the moment. Even she isn't sure. But she shifts position slightly, and ends up brushing her lips against Veronica's, before she slowly pulls away.

Maybe it was a little more than a brush. It could just barely be counted as a kiss. She hadn't meant to do it, it just... happened. She thinks.

Luckily for Natsuru, Veronica has lived all her life as a sheltered princess and she has absolutely no idea how relationships are supposed to work, or even how intimacy works. (Which is why she can do all those embarrassing things with ease.)

She knows from reading that this is most likely a kiss, but from her reference material it always seemed as if it should be longer. Right?

She tilts her head, not closing the distance between them, but not pulling away either.

"Natsuru? Was that a "kiss"?"

"I... I guess so..."

Natsuru's just as stunned as Veronica. Probably more stunned, actually. But she's not moving, either.

She's still hugely affected by Veronica's closeness, and the intensity of the moment. So instead of freaking out, she just starts to look curious... and a little concerned.

"Is... that okay?"

Should she have done that? Did she even do it on purpose in the first place? Seriously, what just happened?!

"Why would it not be? We are lovers."

Veronica was fairly certain that was what they were. She had actually expected there to be kissing sooner, to be very honest.

She's not sure why Natsuru would ask her something like that. Maybe she was mistaken? Maybe it was so short that it really didn't count as a kiss.

Natsuru had never been quite sure what their relationship was. Hearing Veronica put it so plainly, and so assuredly, is not exactly what she expected.

"W-well... yeah."

Veronica's always been the physically affectionate one. Natsuru never knew where to begin. If there was ever going to be kissing, she kind of expected Veronica to be the one to start it. But now... she's starting to wonder if maybe Veronica had been expecting her to do it first the whole time.

She's still nervous, and isn't even sure if that really counted as a kiss. But with how nice it felt, and that little thrill inside at having done it... it's like a dam has burst, and she doesn't know how to rebuild it. Or even if it should be rebuilt.

"So... you wouldn't mind... doing it again?"

She has to think about it for a bit. Not because she's uncomfortable, but because she feels that a question should be carefully considered before you make your answer. Especially when it was an important question from an equally important person.

Did she mind? Not particularly. It had been nice, the kiss. So she gives Natsuru a bright smile and leans forward a bit more.

"I would not mind."

Unfortunately, that moment of thought makes Natsuru a bit uncomfortable. Without any prompting from Veronica at all, she manages to imagine all the worst possible answers. She'd even almost gotten to the point where she'd believe they really would be possible, when Veronica's smile erases all doubt.

She almost misses what Veronica actually says in that moment, she's so dumbfounded at her overwhelmingly positive demeanor.

"O-oh... okay. Good..."

But... is Veronica expecting her to kiss first again? They're practically close enough for it already, but the blonde hasn't moved that crucial last bit. Meanwhile, Natsuru's mind is still racing with thoughts she can't hold on to long enough to make sense of them, before she hears herself speak again.

"I, uh... think we're supposed to close our eyes first? T-to do it properly, I mean..."

As if she really has any clue about how to be the kisser and not the kissed...

They're both equally clueless, but Veronica supposes that it's nothing but touching your lips to another's. How hard could it possibly be?

She isn't sure though why Natsuru would be surprised at her answer. There was nothing to doubt. She would give everything to protect her, giver her everything in order to make her happy.

She tilts her head, breath ghosting over Natsuru's lips, "Then should you not be closing your eyes as well?"

With a gentle smile, she closes her eyes and leans forward that extra little distance.
