"Ah...are you okay?" You didn't get a splinter or anything, right?

She looks ta his hand, worried.

For Hiroki it wasn't that out of the blue. really. She thought Eagle was cute, which was why she'd often go over to talk to him even though they're not in the same class.

At some point she became pretty sure that he liked her too.

Hence, this conversation.

"Um. Y-Yes. I'm fine. Really."

He carefully, carefully sets the two halves of the pencil on the table. It's okay. He could do this.

"Wh-Why are you suddenly....I mean....I'm not really..."

"...was I being too forward?"

She figured that, since it didn't seem like Eagle was going to say anything that she should just go ahead and say it.

Maybe a confession would have been better after all...then again, Hiroki wasn't sure if that would have been any better.

Why is she so cute?!

"F-Forward? I-I don't...well...I'm really happy, it's just that....w-why me?"

"Because I like you."

Hiroki hadn't gone for the direct approach at first. She'd tried, with very little success to lead Eagle to admitting that he liked her. The way she failed proved to her that she was correct, but it was just impossible to get him to admit it.

So she decided to do it instead.

"L-L-L-L-L-Like?!"

Eagle blushes all the way to the tips of his ears, clutching his books to his chest like a lifeline while everyone in the class has now turned to look in their direction. Because confessions were always fun to watch.

"Yes."

She knew they were probably looking, but right now all she was thinking of and looking at was Eagle. It felt a little like being in the eye of a storm.

She made sure not to look at anyone in the class, though, Hiroki thinks the effect will be gone and she might lose her nerve.

"I...I...I-!"

He swallows and tries again. "I liku you too!"

Smooth, Eagle.

There was silence as everyone's face registered their disbelief that he had fumbled his words at such an important moment.

Hiroki though, just giggled. "I'm glad." Following that, as if a spell had been broken, the guys in Eagle's class whooped and some even slapped him on the back good-naturedly.

Eagle still wasn't really sure what was happening even as his friends clapped him on the back and congratulated him, occasionally nudging him with an elbow with a teasing, 'So Eagle has finally grown up, huh?'

He wasn't really sure what he was supposed to do now, so he just stands looking embarrassed, occasionally sneaking glances at her. What now?

Now she reaches out to grab his hand, tugging on it a little as if to tell him to stand.

Th-They were holding hands....Eagle bites his lip and stands.

As soon as he stands she's dragging him out of the classroom. Before that, though, she turns around and tells his classmates, "I'm borrowing him for a bit."

The loud cheer that follows that statement has every class in the vicinity poking their heads out of their classrooms to see what was happening.

Eagle is too busy staring at her back and admiring the way her hair caught the light to notice though.

She more or less ignores the cheers and only turns to wave at people she knew as they passed. Otherwise, she was making a beeline for the gardens with Eagle in tow.

"They sure are a lively bunch." She says as they leave the school building.

"Y-Yeah. They don't mean any harm though."

He looks down at his feet as he allows himself to be led wherever she wants to go. "They're very kind."

She looked around and...ah, there was an empty bench by a tree. She leads him over to that as she laughs.

"So kind of like my class."

He laughs at that, "Yeah."

"Maybe we should have everyone get together for karaoke some day."

She lets go of his hand only so she can sit down on the bench. Then, just in case he was wondering, Hiroki patted the spot beside her, and invitation for him to sit down.

It's embarrassing, but she asked him and he won't say no. Especially not if it meant sitting next to her.

Just...not too close. He didn't want to look like he was being overly familiar if she didn't want that.

"That...would be nice."

[reborn_fang]

Hiroki nodded. "It would." She reached into her pocket to get her cellphone.

"Let's exchange numbers."

And he's already pulling out his phone when he actually notices what she's saying.

"E-EH?!"

She just ignores his exclamation. She's sure he;ll get over it eventually. Instead, she just flips her phone open with a smile.

"We can use infared."

[eagleofthe_west]

That smile was unfair. He can't say no when she smiles like that.

He looks down at his phone and because he doesn't trust himself not to bite his own tongue again, he nods.

Hrioki goes to set it up on her end after he nods.

"Ready?"
