Wait. Who was she talking about....

Kou and Akira were romantically involved?!

Shirogane is just going to...stare a bit because what even.

And she didn't even fidget under the weight of his stare. Instead, she waits patiently for his answer.

"Oh." He thinks she's cute.

She couldn't help but blush. Aya brings a hand up to scratch at her face lightly as she looked to the side.

"I-I guess it's okay." then, more softly, "no one's ever called me cute before."

Akari all but flopped onto her bed.

Business was really starting to pick up again enough that she had had a really busy day.

She stared at her ceiling for a moment before breaking into a wide smile.

It was such a wonderful feeling.

She caught something moving out of the corner of her eye and she saw her laptop being pushed onto her bed, quickly followed by Aria-shachou climbing over the edge. She glanced at the clock up on the wall before sitting up.

"Ah. It's time again, isn't it?" She pulled the laptop over and booted it up as Aria-shachou made himself comfortable at the foot of her bed.

She clicked the video chat icon once it was ready then waited for it to be picked up from the other end.

It was a normal day where Fujiko and their daughter, Ichiko, were watching another one of her dramas.

They were both curled on the couch up until they heard the front door opening. Ichiko (4), scrambled off the couch to the door.

"Daddy!"

"It...depends on the degree of attachment."

Wow, judging Akira so hard, right now. Because of all people: the dog?! Really?!

"If it interferes with work, then I would consider it taboo."

"Well. They are."

And for a moment there, Shirogane is very much the boy once again. Not the king who was always lofty, always right. Always certain that he was right.

Meanwhile over on Man-home, breakfast time had just started, and that was where Shirogane was with his food and laptop. When he hears the ping that signals the video chat icon, he sets his cup down immediately and brings up the window to pick up.

Business had been like it was usually over where he was. The change of pace had taken some getting used to, and he still occasionally found himself staring out the window absentmindedly, but he was sure that with time everything would be okay.

Which is why the first thing that comes out of his mouth when he sees her on-screen is, "How is business?"

"You came...because he said I was sick?"

She looks down.

"I see."

Her voice is soft, thoughtful as she considers his word. If the on;y condition is that it won't interfere with work, then she thinks she can manage, no matter what degree of attachment there was.

"If I can promise that, then it's all right for me to be in love with you?"

She leaned back against her headboard with a smile.

"It's starting to pick up again after Alicia-san left." Which was really nice. "Aria-shachou and I have been really busy this week."

She reached a hand up to tuck a stray piece of hair behind her ear.

"How are things with you?"

That gave her pause.

Right at this moment, she wanted nothing more than to just walk up to him and hold onto him and not let go. Because even though he had always been an idiot he always made her feel safe.

She would have liked feeling that way right now.

But there were more important things to consider.

She crossed her arms and said lightly, "Not as much of an idiot as the person who thinks he can lie to his girlfriend."

There, her cards (at least the ones she was willing to show right now) were on the table.

"Th-Then I'll call you that more often."

He looks determinedly at his side as well. The other side. Away from where she was looking.

It was their first night in this place they're supposed to call home for now, with a man who claims to be their assigned father.

Lion looked at the two beds in the room and crossed his arms with a frown.

"So, uh...which one do you want?"

Eagle still wasn't really sure what was happening even as his friends clapped him on the back and congratulated him, occasionally nudging him with an elbow with a teasing, 'So Eagle has finally grown up, huh?'

He wasn't really sure what he was supposed to do now, so he just stands looking embarrassed, occasionally sneaking glances at her. What now?

Eagle has to take a moment to look at the beds and decide. Not that it really mattered to him which bed he chose. As far as he was concerned, neither was genuinely fine. This wasn't his room in the treetops, or his couch draped with his blanket.

But thinking something like that...felt too much like whining, so he tries to put those thoughts out of his mind. He thought he was fine when it was still light, what with their assigned father being so nice, and everything still being so new. But now in this strange darkness, this strange bedroom....he wasn't so sure. He looks worried, but he tries his best to smile at Lion. He was the older one here, he had to be responsible.

"I don't mind. Really."

"I'm......"

Shirogane can't manage to say that he isn't lying because despite wanting to protect himself and not trust anyone, he was torn. Torn between being this incarnation, and being the king. The king was all for leaving. The boy fidgeted. She was his girlfriend. All those times with her, the sad times, the times when she made him angry, happy...they were all precious memories.

He tries again.

"I'm...I....I don't know if I can trust you."

"I told you everything would be fine."

He also leans back in his chair, feeling calmer somehow.

"Everything here is fine as well. Busier now that I'm back and I can make sure no one is slacking."

Kou, especially.

Wait. What.

Shirogane just stares, completely at a loss. Kou and Akira's affair completely forgotten, he searches his mind trying to figure out what his Child just told him. Her? Him?

No, seriously. What was happening?

Ichiko runs right over to him, and promptly latches onto his leg, burying her face into the material of his slacks.

"Daddy!"

With a sigh, Shirogane sets down his bag and reaches down to pick her up, "I'm home."

She should smile it off. Smile and try her best to convince him to reveal everything before she decided to reveal everything on her end. She thinks she could have, because of the person he was, because of the person she was.

Hiroki couldn't muster up the energy though, to play this game, not when she could feel anger bubbling just under the surface. When with just that once sentence she had made it feel like her heart had been broken.

"Why? Because I might have been your enemy?"

Fujiko turned and leaned against the back of the couch with a smile and wave.

"Welcome home."

Ichiko's little arms are slung around her father's neck as soon as he's picked her up with a wide smile.

Akari laughed a little.

"I'm sure they must be glad to have you back."

She lifted her head with a beautiful smile on her face.

"Shirogane-sama, I love you. That's all I wanted to say."

Now she reaches out to grab his hand, tugging on it a little as if to tell him to stand.
