cuddle choices:
① Sweet dreams It's been a long day and all you want to do is sleep or just rest your eyes for a bit. Hopefully whoever is close by doesn't mind if you use them as a blanket.

Horror was not Aqua's preferred genre for movies, usually. But sometimes she watches it just to laugh at how ridiculous they are, though usually she stays away from slasher flicks.

She tilts her head to look at Eagle.

"Are you okay?"

Eagle usually started off feeling pretty good when he watched horror movies. Nothing had happened yet, lulling him into a false belief that he was going to actually make it through the movie without screaming at some point.

He was past that point by this movie and visibly jumps when he hears Aqua.

"I-I'm fine!"

He just has a death grip on the throw pillow, and his voice is trembling, that's all. Everything is just fine. She had picked this movie and he was going to sit through this no matter what.

"...are you sure?"

Because she's not buying it.

She'd asked earlier, more than willing to not watch this movie if he didn't want to. In retrospect, she should have remembered that sometimes Eagle will agree to do things he didn't like.

"We could always watch something else?"

As he's about to answer, a tiny girl with black hair and a white, white face pops up in front of the movie's main character.

"AH! No!"

Eagle reflexively grabs onto Aqua's arm, unbalancing and falling over onto her instead.

Dear Horror Movies, why did you have to take his dignity as well?

Aqua is surprised both by the movie and by Ealge falling onto her. Her other arm comes up to steady him reflexively and it ends up being an awkward kind of hug.

She hasn't entirely clued in to how it might look to an outsider though.

"I'm serious, we can just watch something else."

"B-But you picked the movie! You wanted to watch it, right? So please don't worry about-"

He trails off as the white face disappears, but his arms come up around her almost unconsciously.

"-me..."

"It's fine. There are other movies I want to watch too. It doesn't have to be this one."

She runs a hand over his back, trying to calm him down.

"I'd rather watch something we can both enjoy."

Lion grumbled when the sunlight hit his eyes. He turns over and away from it and pulls the warm body near his closer, now grumbling into Veronica's hair.

"...too early."

Veronica had been up since the crack of dawn and had watched as the light slanting over the sands outside their window changed from a soft orange to pink, to the familiar yellow of the dunes.

Being up didn't mean she actually wanted to get up though. Especially because getting out of bed meant losing the company of her husband who tended to sleep as late as he possibly could (a then-unknown habit of his that she had delighted in discovering upon their marriage and her being officially, finally allowed by decree to share his bed). Besides, nights and early mornings tended to be very chilly in Lion's kingdom and cold floors (even beautifully tiled in blue and white as the ones in their bedroom were) on her bare feet just wasn't an appealing thought when she could have warm woolen blankets and sun-darkened skin instead.

With a smile to herself, she turns to him, slipping her arms around his waist and snuggling in close under the sheets, "Then sleep for a while more. There is no hurry."

He only grunted in reply. He was mostly still half-asleep, but he nuzzled the top of her head, enjoying the feeling of having someone so close.

Veronica leans into the nuzzle. Someone would come by soon enough to wake them up and she'd make the most of the time now, even if she can't help the little laugh that threatens to escape when he grunts in reply.

He cracks one eye open.

"What are you laughing at?"

"I was laughing at you, actually."

She was also laughing because she was happy, but that wasn't technically a thing. But the fact that he'd finally deigned to open one eye is cause for celebration, for sure.
