He'd been lectured on it enough to know, okay. And he was there for more than one wedding.

Hopefully engagement rings and wedding rings went on the same finger, because that's where this one was going. He hesitates, then takes her left hand in his. Running his thumb gently over the back of her hand, he slips the ring on her fourth finger. It...still didn't seem quite real, to be honest. He knew that apparently, with this ring...she would be his. But what could a ring do about that, anyway? If she wanted to leave, it wouldn't stop her. If she died, it wouldn't save her. But...

He traces one delicate knuckle with his thumb, then leans forward so their foreheads are touching, "This time, it will be forever. Promise me."
